      UTG: $12.47 - VPIP: 15, PFR: 13, 3B: 0, AF: 1,0, Hands: 53

Pre Flop: ($0.15) Hero is BTN with 7 :club: 9 :club:
1 fold, MP calls $0.10, 1 fold, Hero raises to $0.50, SB calls $0.45, BB raises to $1.50, 3 folds

With the BB being such an aggressive guy I am not too sure I like my isoraise here. If BB was not as aggressive I suppose that it is still doable since even though the openlimper seems to be a calling station we are doing reasonably well vs his range + have position + have edge.

Difficult to find a good range for isolating in this spot as, for example, a hand like JTs is doing very very well vs the limper's range but equity wise vs the limper is not THAT much more ahead than T9s, 89s, and even hands like 97s or 86s, so can I be isolating here with 86s+? The BB is aggressive but we get 3Bet only ~one out of ten times by him.

      Hi Avatars91,

I would go into more specific stats on BB since you have hands on him. If he 3 bets a lot in the blinds I might find a fold even though I think it is worth to fight with him a little since we want to isolate the fish a lot when we are IP.

I'd personally fold this but start developing an effective 4betting strategy vs BB.

After I do this I'd isolate the fish quite wide, something like 67s+, 86s+. Keep in mind that a lot of our profit comes from him check folding flop way too often.

      This is interesting!

      1) What stats and for what purpose would we need to take into consideration when deciding upon our strategy vs BB?
      2) In what ways can we develop an effective 4betting strategy vs BB? Take some hands with blockers and start 4betting him from time to time in order to reduce his 3Bet frequency, for example?

Keep in mind that a lot of our profit comes from him check folding flop way too often.

Given his foldTocBet stat we can't exactly satisfy this criterion, can we?

      1) If you use HM 2 I'd start looking at vsHero stats. Gives you a much better understanding of how villain sees you.
I'd glance at his 3bet% vs LP opens and squeeze stats to give me a rough idea of his playing style from the blinds.

      2) Being balanced when 4betting means that we are using 60% value (4bet calls) and 40% bluffs. So I'd expand my 4beting range for value and add the apropriate number of bluffs. If I decide I want to 4bet call TT+ AQ+, these would be 62 combos for value and then I'd add 40% bluffs (at least). If he responds poorly go unbalanced with wider 4bet bluffs.

You can also start experimenting with small 4bets and see how he responds. Basically I think no one on NL 10 is going to adjust properly (they don't do this until around NL 200 I think) so another trick for you.

BTW sorry for responding late :) .

      Hello Avatars91,

Isolating is still fine nor I wouldn't say like the BB is super-aggressive but it might be one of the spots when he likes to 3bet I'd rather fold the hand.

Nor I don't see him 3betting that loose either here whilst he has also bad players in the hand, so which means he wont have much fold equity in those spots. -> Has to do the 3bet rather for value.

      Best Regards.
