Should I've bet on turn? I wasn't sure, I figured he might already have the flush or flopped a set.
When he checked behind I was quite sure he was drawing for flush, and I thought I'd go for a value-bet on the river.

Bet that turn. It's value bet, protection bet and information bet at same package. Any set would raise you, so would flushes do, to get more money from you. There's no point checking and letting him to draw for the nuts.

      Hello DucksEatFish,

Preflop: 3bet size has a leak, especially being OOP + deep. Should be at least 4x.
Postflop: Bet the turn as well to protect your hand and reevaluate the river.

      Best Regards.
