Trying to work on my TP/OP hands oop in a 3bet pot.

Plan is to do more x/c-ing on the river rather than b/f-ing: run into river jams I can't call, catch more bluffs, help my troubled redline and be generally more profitable. That's the theory, anyway.

But I bottled it here due to sizing. And think it could have been a call retrospectively. His range is quite wide, and only 99, JJ, AJ, maybe 44 beat me. But then again no drawing hands that have missed, so not much to bluff with.

      Villain is winning reg. 23/18/3.3AF

      Call 3-bet is 45%

IPoker, $0.02/$0.04 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 5 Players

      CO: $4.27 (106.7 bb)
      BTN: $1.69 (42.3 bb)
      SB: $4.65 (116.3 bb)
      Hero (BB): $5.22 (130.5 bb)
      MP: $5.77 (144.3 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with A K
MP raises to $0.12, 3 folds, Hero raises to $0.32, MP calls $0.20

      Flop: ($0.66) 4 9 J (2 players)
Hero bets $0.48, MP calls $0.48

      Turn: ($1.62) A (2 players)
Hero bets $0.92, MP calls $0.92

      River: ($3.46) 6 (2 players)
Hero checks, MP bets $2.36, Hero folds

      Results:
      $3.46 pot ($0.23 rake)
      Final Board: 4 9 J A 6
Hero mucked A K and lost (-$1.72 net)
MP mucked and won $3.23 ($1.51 net)

I totally agree. That was always the plan. It was their sizing.

      Hi bmfbpi,

If you want to 3B, you should 3B bigger preflop.
100bb deep you should make it ~0.4$.
Since you are deep I would make it 0.44$.

What do you think his preflop calling range is?
What do you think about AK vs his calling range?
Answer those questions and you will realize that unless he folds a lot to CBet you should probably just x/f on the flop.

Once you spike the A OTT I would bet the turn and bet the river.
If you check the river you have to x/f as he is almost never bluffing and he would check back all the hand you beat. But you still have value to get vs AQ that floated OTF, KJ,QJ etc...

      Hello httpeter,

Preflop: You want to get value from him and at the same time want to avoid him getting good odds against you. 3bet it bigger.
Postflop: Rather instead Bet the river as well yourself for value vs worse hands, maybe even Ax floats and avoid him making a huge Bet which will be difficult to Call down.

      Best Regards.

      @ Veriz,

Don't you think this is a x/f OTF?

Yup, though depends also how hero saw the villain, cause as you see the guy calls 45% of the 3bets so far as the stats are given, so his range is pretty wide there and not only broadways/PPs.
