Hello all. I have never taken the time to write a blog or set myself any kind of goals in a month but I thought October would be a good time to do that.

My name is Jack. I'm 29, English and have a full time job working as a civil servant. I have played poker on and off since I was 18, always loved the game and just recently have had a good string of success hitting the level I would love to play at.

In January I signed up for Poker Strategy to get the free $50 and get back in to playing after a couple of years away from the game. Starting out on Poker770 I binked a tournament within a month for just over 1k and decided to redeposit on everest to play through the bonus. Succesfully played SH omaha through 0.25/0.50 and 0.50/1 whilst taking shots at 1/2 and built my roll up to 6k.

On the 10th of August I went to play in my first live tourney this year at Dusk till dawn a $200 Blackbelt event, I finished 2nd in it for $10k, Loved every minute of it, never met such a nice bunch of poker players and got the bug for live poker :)

A month after I had some leave from work and headed up to Newcastle to play the UKIPT there, scraped through day 1 then God mode kicked in... managed to go into the final table as chip leader but unfortunatly my AA got crushed by JJ AIPF for a monster pot. Finished in 7th for $21k. Felt a little bit sick about it initially then came round to the idea that its just another 20k for the roll and was over the moon. Also did a radio interview for talk sport going into the final day which my mum got very excited about (lol).

The week after I headed down London to play the Unibet open and finished 19th for $4,5k Couldnt get anything started that tournament and played most of it with 10-20BBs so was chuffed with the result. I then managed to satty into the EPO at the fox club for 200 quid... rubbed shoulders with the pros, many big names of English poker were there and felt like I was in a dream :f_cool: Managed to bust out of day 1 in the final level 5 bet shoving A9 into JJ with 30 bigs, kinda spewy but meh!

Which brings us up to October and a roll of just over 30K. Currently playing 1/2 SH omaha on a couple of sites and really want to push out the volume this month as I have 2 weeks off work again. Also managed to secure a seat in UKIPT online on the 14th which im very excited about!

Aiming to play 1000 hands a day and not get distracted into playing Diablo 3 when things arent going so well :o Also me and my brother have agreed to stay off the drink and go down the gym.... Cant be a bad thing :f_eek:

      Hey,

Sounds like poker is really fun for you at the moment, even though you've obviously been crushing, its fantastic to see you using good bankroll management and not spinning it up so much.

This month we are planning on releasing quite alot of Omaha content, including a high stakes video by Insyder which should be great viewing.

Will let you know once it has been uploaded :)

Good luck at the tables and hope October is a month of crushing.

Heres a hand I enjoyed, the guy clearly didnt put me on the straight flush but I disguised it nicely so I cant blame him.

re Malta: It's getting chili from end of October and a lot of rain so make sure you check weather forecast if you want to go. (Minimum Gaming Age: 18 for non-Maltese citizens and 25 years for Maltese citizens)

      keep up the crushing!

So today was interesting, started off fairly standard running above EV and crushing like a boss so I thought technically I am rolled to start taking shots at 2/4 and let others crush me for a bit... Turned out within 10 minutes of sitting down at the table the following occured:

$2.00/$4.00 Pot Limit Omaha (5 players)
Party Poker Hand Converter Tool from CardsChat.com

      SB: $418.50
      BB: $429.03
      UTG: $515.55
      CO Hero: $410.70
      BTN: $1,468.42

      Pre-flop: ($6) Hero is CO and dealt 3c 3h 4d 6h
UTG folds, Hero raises to $10.50, 2 folds, BB raises to $33.50, Hero calls $23

      Flop: ($69) Qc 4h 3d (2 players)
BB bets $49.50, Hero raises to $192, BB raises to $395.53 (All-in), Hero calls $185.20 (All-in)

      Turn: ($841.73) Qc 4h 3d Qs (2 players)

      River: ($841.73) Qc 4h 3d Qs 5s (2 players)

      Final Pot: $841.73

      Showdown:

      Hero shows [3c, 3h 4d 6h ]
BB shows [Ah, Qd Th Kh ]

      Outcome: BB wins $18.33

      Outcome: Hero wins $820.40

At the time I was pretty happy and about to rub money on titties but more was to come literally the next hand...

Thanks for the heads up on weather Ingrid, I have checked average temperatures for Malta in october and its like 22... not sure how great that would be for swimming / sun bathing so may look elsewhere but really struggling with ideas currently.

Have played PLO for quite some time External- was up to 0.25/0.5 on full tilt before it collapsed (loved the ante games there) but had a few years break and came back to the game, watched a few videos by TwiceT and GodlikeRoy and seemed to pick stuff up pretty quick. Also currently reading Jeff Hwang's Advanced PLO 2, havent found anything new in there yet but hope to get something juicy soon from it :f_grin:

Pyure im sure I dont have to tell you 5 running cards of the same suit is regarded as a straight flush, GL at the tables bud :)

Couldnt fit in a gym session today as my body is recovering from yesterdays run but im sure all the dancing I did after that pot burned a good few hundo calories!

haha sick. I def thought he was gonna show KK in that spoiler.

pyure is right though in that hand you only have 1 spade so you can't have the straight flush

Hope you keep running like this all month :)

So I had a restless nights sleep, got up at around 4.00am and decided to start an early session up, was suprised to see a bunch of fishies at the tables and licked my lips in excitement. Unfortunatley all my run good seemed to disappear over the next two hours and I couldnt hit a sausage. After a few buy ins down I could feel it effecting my play and I got it in pretty bad with just a bare flush draw heads up, felt spewwy and it was. Logged out and went down gym, had lunch with my dad and came back to play some more, again couldnt get anything going so have decided to just call it a day and start fresh in the morning.

I'm sure the run good gods just forgot about me today and they will have their blessings on me again tomorrow :f_biggrin:

This weekend I didnt have much chance to play as I went up to Chester with my girlfriend who was running the Chester marathon (crazy)- I did my bit of exercise and clapped from the side lines!
Since I have been back the run good has been found again and feeling kinda happy with the volume im putting in, next three days im going to push it a bit and introduce a 6th table to see how that goes.
Playing the online UKIPT omaha event tonight, structure looks a bit gash but not going to miss a 6 max omaha tourney :) May play a few cash tables along side it too, will let you know how I get on tomorrow.

Well the stars tourney didnt go great called off half my stack with straight on paired river board- woops! Played most of yesterday with a 6th table and didnt find it too tough just some spots where I felt a little rushed but just focussed on the tables with big pots on. Can certainly see the benefits of an extra table, even thogh I played alot yesterday my volume shot right up to just over 2k hands, very pleased.
Managed to book a holiday yesterday to Gran Canaria, looks pretty tidy and a few casinos locally which will be nice :f_cool:

      http://www.hotelsantacatalina.com/en/

Going away in 9 days so going to push myself before going back to work on the 16th for 4 days as I know that will effect hand volume badly.

Had a poker morality decision yesterday- me, my brother and a newly acquired local poker friend + his friend (met down pub, played a couple of home games) had arranged to go to Cardiff casino on friday night to play a £20 re-entry, I had a look at a few other casinos to see if there were any better events as I have been to that casino before and know that there arent many people who actually turn up so getting a decent cash game after will be tough. I found Dusk till dawn is doing a 50 freezeout and a 100 re-entry (mmmm) So suggested we go there instead as I know the cash tables there are always decent. The guy who was arranging the trip said his friend doesnt want to drive to Nottingham (an extra hour by car) as he has work in the morning but said he was happy to miss out if we wanted to go there. My brother would also prefer going to DTD and the organising man seems flexible- what would you do here? Go to the crappy casino with all 4 or leave 1 behind and go to DTD?

Ended up going to DTD and the guy who said he couldnt come managed to get the day off work. None of us managed to go deep in any tourneys, was going well in the £100 re-entry and didnt even bother rebuying / adding on as I had accumlated a decent stack in the first hour. Lost all my chips in a set over set flop that was slow played to the river when the board paired and all the money went in.... cash didnt go much better, played at the £1/£1 omaha game there and just played bad but was good to play some live pokerz again!

Today im playing the UKIPT online event and the £200 sunday warm up- both start at 1600, if im going well in them may just play the million on stars too.

Before that im planning on a relaxing day doing not very much at all, Bacon sandwich for breakfast, spot of sport watching then smashing the world of online tournaments, what a life!

Been slack with updates here but been enjoying a couple of weeks off- went to Gran Canaria and had awesome time chilling out. Was odd having that much time away from the game but gave me time to reflect.

November has been kind to me and running very nicely still. On browsing the forums I spotted ttetti90 was looking for a player to have omaha discussions with. We had our first couple of sweat sessions recently and feel we can both get a lot from each other. He has had some coaching from TwiceT and GodlikeRoy so in very good company!

As I write this I'm on a train down to Bristol for the UKIPT, 6 days of live poker- I'm very excited! Not to mention this is my local event!

Will post graphs when I'm home on monday.

Finished day 1 of UKIPT Bristol with 43800 blinds at 400/ 800. Was a fun day with a lot of interesting characters at table, these Bristolians seem very limpy! Waiting for a 1/2 omaha seat with a pint of stella in hand... Life is good. :f_cool:

Well Bristol was kinda fun, didnt have a winning day till sunday (my last night) but it more than made up for the week there. I played the high roller event (£2k buyin- won seat for £450) but didnt make final table- lost a couple of crucial flips at the wrong times. Sunday I played the PLO tourney and managed to min cash, then went downstairs for the cash games, stuck my name on lists for NLH 1/2 and PLO 1/2 and sat down at a 1/1 NLH that was just starting up. Over the next 6 hours I span up my £200 buyin into £3200. The PLO game was very juicy and was effectivly a 2/5 game with straddles etc.

Online has been going well In November too, been putting some decent volume in even though I have been working alot and obviously had 6 days down in Bristol. Mainly playing 1/2 with 1 table of 2/4 if there is a fishy game going.

Have just been approved time off for UKIPT Edinburgh in january, booked travel and hotel in advance to save some money. Already looking forward to it as I have convinced my brother to come up for it too.

One more night shift then I get 4 days of pure poker action- looking to push out 2k hands a day over that period- will keep you posted on my progress.
