Prima, $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players

      UTG: $42.40 (84.8 bb)
      MP: $9.40 (18.8 bb)
      Hero (CO): $73.67 (147.3 bb)
      BTN: $70.75 (141.5 bb)
      SB: $51.50 (103 bb)
      BB: $77.46 (154.9 bb)

Preflop: Hero is CO with Q K
2 folds, Hero raises to $1.50, BTN calls $1.50, 2 folds

      Flop: ($3.75) T 8 5 (2 players)
Hero bets $2.50, BTN calls $2.50

      Turn: ($8.75) 8 (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $4.50, Hero folds

      Anon table.

BTN is unknown. Just ch/fold flop? I thought I could make better hands (Ace highs) fold on the flop, plus I can barrel every J/Q/K/A, maybe 9. But this is one of the worst turncards for me...

Flop is close i don't mind either line. Leaning more towards betting with backdoor flush draw and giving up without it.

      Hello pcfmcc02,

Yup, might be even better to just Check/Fold it whilst we don't have that many 2nd barrel cards whilst we can also expect to be floated here very often.

      Best Regards.

If we do bet this flop, are we not generally supposed to 2nd barrel on most turns unless we know that villain folds a lot on the flop and thus has a somewhat strong range on the turn most of the times? Maybe not this particular one because it is indeed ugly, but say, any other one because we may get floated often?

You wont have much fold equity on the turn whilst the 8 is rather bad card to barrel. Not sure how many hands you going to make to fold even, therefore also Check/Fold as hero did.

I agree about the 8 being a terrible 2nd barrel card. But we can still barrel the A, K, Q, J, maybe the 9, right?
Though more often than not we will not hit those cards on the turn and for that reason probably you also recommend check/folding the flop as the superior option, I suppose. Too many check/folded turns otherwise.

Not really, we still have enough of cards which we can 2nd barrel, we have overcards and obviously we also have fold equity.
