Was trying to get fish to fold 8x? Is this too much here and I should give up on the river since he has no reason to call 8x on the turn and fold it on the river?

do we have any stats on fish?
      aggression factor, wtsd, etc?

i think on river i would definitely bet less. he is almost always calling 8x/Jx. we beat most of his fd's. could we not bet 6.5-9.5 and get the same result?

i do like giving up on river because we beat most of his fd's, and he probably cannot vbet thinly enough with an 8x type hand

Someone good suggested a check-call on the river, looks like a decent option to me.

I'm not sure these halfpot flop/turn bets make a fish fold any kind of pair. So if we want him to fold even something like 66, we should bet bigger to gain FE.
River is a really bad card for 3barrel bluff. I agree that ch/call could be better against his busted draws, or simply ch/fold if we dont expect him to bluff very often, he checks behind weaker pairs anyway.

But to be honest, I dont really like the idea of bluffing him on this board in the first place, even though we have some backdoors... If he has any kind of pair, it's doubtful he would fold, if he has some draws, he has decent equity against us, and possibly wont fold, and if he has weaker Ace highs, there's a chance we can even check it down.

      Hello DeMarcohsp,

Fish is never folding an 8x there, the only idea of betting the river is vs missed draws to avoid them betting huge which will be marginal to call-down. Therefore the block-bet should be a lot smaller.

Though I am not a huge fan of bluffing the river usually either vs the fish cause as said we are never making made hands to fold in those spots. Therefore rather prefer just Check/Folding as long fish is also usually rather passive with even missed draws and same applies for A high.

      Best Regards.
