Why does it happen so much .... sometimes I feel like I am being set up to fail .

first hand of the day ..on the button am dealt pQ's

the button - 2 goes all-in after rest of table folds

      I mean pQ's of course I call

      small blind calls behind

      SB shows A9 o , the button -2 shows K4 o

flop = 10 K 8 rainbow and gets no better

winner K4 o , this happens way to often , almost like they know they can't lose . A new era ???? the year for Johnny Bingo's or what ? If it really is the year for this type of player , perhaps I need to join the ranks eh!!!

It can be very frustrating, just try to not let it effect your game.

      Good play wins. Eventually.

I feel your pain, and often feel exactly the same as well... the 'Any Ace' or 'Any King' rule seems to be the rule of the jungle..... the reverse is sometimes true though... I've made some idiot calls because I just get sick of being reraised all the time and sometimes you hit a Monster hand.... sometimes you fold the crap cards and it would have turned out to be a Monster - example being recently I min raised with 9 Q on the button and UTG re poped it 5 x ...... I folded, calling station BB calls flop is 9 Q Q - I may have said a bad word at this point... irony is that BB had 8 J and managed to make a straight against the UGT's A K which didn't improve .... bizarre thing is that BB thought they were a genuis calling with 8 J ..... there I was lamenting my flopped full house opportunity watching this Knobjockey rake in a huge pot that I knew I'd have taken down, but sometimes you just have to play the odds and hope that over time the Poker Gods will bless you at some stage.... but it does seem the knobwit hands are rewarded far too often ....

Not to argue, but if dumb play was truly rewarded, I'd be a millionaire

mmmmmmmm good point..... I'd probably give Bill Gates a run for his money too...... :D If only Q's, J's or 10's losing to any Ace or any King wasn't so emotionally crippling!

Oh, I don't even know where to start. :)

Nitevenom, if you have a poker HUD software (e.g. pokertracker, holdem manager, elephant or so) and a hand sample greater than, let's say 10.000 hands, then look at the total amount of money made with QQ's. Is it negative or positive? Of course, 10k is quite a sample, but, in theory, for an ABC play it should yield a positive result (i.e. you earned more money than lost).

Your hand was variance. And yes, in this scenario the whole 21% for K4o which is every fifth hand in a long run! I guess, your tilt exploded because a) this was a three-way all-in (bigger pot) and b) you were result-oriented. Instead of looking at the negative result, ask yourself "would I wanted to go all-in with this hand versus these opponents over and over again?" If yes, then be proud of a right decision and go for the next hand. :)

At the end of the day though guys if i get it all in pre flop with QQ and see someone flip over K4o im a pretty happy guy. These are the situations we want. Ok we don't win every time but thats good too if we won every time we dominated the fish would think It's rigged and not keep coming back for more :)

K4o is a standard shove in that spot. You got outplayed.

One thing to remember is when you win with QQ vs K4o, you're actually "sucking out" the ~28% equity your opponent has, because you win the full 100% of the pot even though your hand only entitles you to 72%.

The thing to remember here is that as a poker grinder we are worried about long term results. this means we should be playing the situations that arise for maximum expected value. if you are playing SNG's and MTT's you should be playing a proper tournament strategy that offers maximum expected value from the tournament. (some max ev situations in 1 hand can be played more optimally taking ICM and Chip EV into account.)

basically once all the chips are in the middle and you look at their hand, calculate your actual odds of winning the hand, then move onto the next hand mentally. the way the board runs out is in neither of your power so it shouldnt affect your afterthought on how you played the hand. you dont even need to watch it run out, and i usually dont. (since im multi-tabling theres always more action
