      We've been playing back at each over, a lot of bluff 4 bets and stuff, and his play doesn't make sense to me.

      What range do you put him on?

      What do you expect him to do with a Kx on the river?

      This is a play that's strictly based on reads and requires max FE because our hand equity is non existent (only 2 outs). Considering the dynamic you may also be faced with an overbet shove on the river which would take away your chance to bluff.
