Flop: value bet+ protection (very often best hand here)

Turn: value bet+ p ( i see him calling down with 8X,99, and some straight draws)

River: 4cards for a straight out there, going for ultra thin value vs 8x,99 ... ready to instant fold vs a raise.

Was my play ok here? I see bet/fold slightly better than just check/fold. Is this the case?

      Preflop raising is fine.

On the flop you could go for $0.5-$0.55.

On the turn betting is fine.

Against a fish I really like your play on the river.
Most of them are just incapable of folding 8x against this size and when he raise we have an easy fold.

      Nice hand.
