      Hi farma,

R: I think he could bet 9X in this manner, but if he somehow has QX or AX (though not very likely) he never folds. I think we have enough showdown value to bluff catch here vs 7X/6X/busted draws.

The thing is that I don't expect him to bluff this small. It's more like a thin vbet... I've seen many of them already and it's always something like K9 or QJ (in this spot).

      Hi Farmachist,

I agree with you that often they have a hand like 9x or Qx here but the only problem we are facing is that we are trying to make a fishy player fold a pair that he may deem strong enough (after all he had TP on flop or TP on turn). While our bluff is not expensive it still has to work roughly 45% of the time.

If indeed we can make 9x or Qx fold then the raise is fine but with most fishy players they will bet/call here on the river. So I prefer to test these fish with value first - for example we had A7 on flop and played like this and rivered the A - then for sure I'd raise a similar amount for value. If he calls we note him down as a calling station and of course continue the valuebet game. If he folds then we can start adding bluffs to our range, although him folding doesn't necessarly mean that he folded a 9x or Qx
