Had a read on villain that he would bet smallish with weak/air hands, and bet bigger with stronger hands. He was playing 31/18 over 150 hands.

On the flop I tried to take it down with a pretty standard cbet.

On the turn, I decided to check and see what he did. If he bet small, I would raise because he would have a bad hand and would most likely fold, and I would obviously fold to a bigger bet.

Given this read, does it make sense to take this line? Of course, if I had a strong hand it wouldn't make much sense to check/raise rather than just bet, but I figured villain was bad enough here to not think about the hand that way.

      Hi Tino,

      Preflop: Looks fine

Flop: Cbet is fine since we have 8 high and if he folds 9x plus it's good for us.

Turn: Considering your read, and despite having 0 hand equity, the raise is more than fine.

Perhaps I'd make it a bit smaller, like $1.5. The smaller the bluff the less often it has to work.
