      Hey all

I am on some sort of weird tilt mode and cant seem to break out of it

I play 15$ STT turbos ( Just moved up from 7s ) and NL20-50 cash
      And am doing fairly okish

I recent went for a live poker tour at a casino and returned abt 11-12 days back
Played 4 tournaments, made FT for all, 2 cashes with 1 win :D
And after the tournies were over id sit and play cash
Was playing like from 7 in the evening till 11am next day and again come back at 7 for the next tourney

Ive never played so much non stop poker ever before

After I came back i took a small break like a week and started playing
Everytime i sit at my computer I wanna play poker
Everytime a session starts I just wanna get it over with
Anytime i run deep in a tourney I am like wtf why did i even play this
I literally cannot tolerate at looking at my hole cards

I dont understand whats wrong and how to break this
Ive burnt some money but not significant, but cannot play like this itll hurt my BR a lot
The other thing is, i treat my live BR and online BR separately and my live BR is significantly higher than my online BR
This is also one of the reasons that make me think WTH its hardly 15 lets just get over with it

I was never like this before, it would always hurt me even if i lose 1$ playing bad or knowing i did the wrong thing

How do i deal with this
Its not like i dont wanna play poker, its just after the session starts i just wanna get over with it, dont care about results

I need to get out of this situation before i start playing again
I feel like a drug addict whose been ODed with poker

      Any help will be appreciated

      Regards,
      Abhishek

alls i can say is that it sounds like you get yourself in the mood and your recent winnings in live tourneys is stuck in your head

remember online sessions and live sessions are two different concepts.

online requires mental preparation, you dont physically have to get up and go to the casino, you dont hold your chips, you dont converse with anyone etc etc.

being mentally prepared for an online session is just as important as preparing for the session itself.

few tips would be to get things out the way, make sure your not playing between time available and going out ie. playing untilt the time you have something planned like a meal, bday etc.

if it helps you set out a goal for that certain day like quit playing after 1000 hands or take a break every 1000 hands

just being prepared for alot of mouse clicking reallya s it can be a tedious grind compared to live.

Hve you thought of taking a longer break doing other things you like, work on some other subjects, schedule a trip with your family/friends/GF for Christmas etc? If you are not a professional, poker is not your whole life.
After this, you might read some poker books, watch videos and probably your interest to the game will return.

Never been in this exact mood, but i don't play when i am bored etc.

hey man...playing when u dont feel like it and it just feels like a chore is gonna cost u a lot of money...just take like a 2 week break from poker and spend a few $ u won playin live to buy something cool u want or take a mini holiday or something like that...so u can say to yourself u got rewarded from playing so much poker...and then u will feel the desire to play again soon

Yeah i think a longer breaks the only way to go for now

Spoke to my coach Tim64 and he suggested the same thing especially since i dont play poker for a living i have the luxury of longer break

I have another live poker trip in a week or so
Will see how i feel after that

And my wifes studying in germany right now shes coming back for 20 days on dec 24th
So i guess ill restart poker by mid jan in that case

      Thanks for the help everyone

I think this is an absolutely great idea. If you are simply not motivated at all to play, like everyone said, simply take a longer break!

Enjoy the holidays with your wife, spend time with friends and family, do things you simply enjoy doing, other than poker! It'll definitely help you clear your mind a bit, hopefully bringing back not only your motivation, but also some inspiration when it comes to playing poker!

You can also buy, read and apply his book, the Mental game of poker. It will definitely solve your problems!

I think it gets to that point with any game, people need some variety to be at their top game. I might get flamed for suggesting it, but have you thought about changing the sort of tables you play, or learning a new poker variant altogether? If you're still sick just looking at the cards, a longer break will surely do you good I guess.

Learn other types of poker like Omaha, Stud, Badugi, etc...

Begin from micro stakes. You'll learn to have fun playing poker again, and eventually you'll come back to where you were before :)

its hard to stay motivated after a big win sometimes because (unless you move to higher stakes) the money just doesnt seem worth the effort anymore.

i cant speak for OP but i have certainly struggled with this before, it felt like i was on strange sort of long term tilt. thats the only way i could describe it.

      Really appreciate the comments
      Thanks a lot :)

Dont wanna move higher because i will be playing live a lot as well

Anyways took a break but in the middle played 2 days like 6-7 tournies
      made 2 FTs for 5.40 KO 3rd and 6th
      2300 total :D

Then took some time off and went to visit my inlaws for a week so no poker during that time

And now my motivations back and started grinding again
Though not putting as much volume as i dont wanna burn myself out

I think my main issue was an overdose of poker

I did try omaha but didnt enjoy it much
