villain is the same 27/27 reg from one of the other hands i posted. fairly active and TAG over a tiny sample.

being 220bb deep im assuming the call pre is okay as long as i don't expect a squeeze from the blinds..

on the flop i expect pretty much his whole range to cbet here. the thing is his sizing is so weak and if he had something like KQ or AQ he would bet much bigger for value and protection vs my draws. so i go ahead and raise thinking BECAUSE we are deep he will have an extremely tough time continuing here while he is going to be OOP. is this just burning money?

      Hi DrDunne,

      Preflop: looks fine

Flop: No equity and deep = less than stellar bluff spot. At least if we had Ad8d would have been better.

Isn't it better to 3bet preflop if we want to play A8s? What we are hoping to flop with this hand? Flush draw? Because if we flop Ace he can valueown us. When we 3bet pre we can win instantly, if he calls we can apply pressure on lots of boards and if he 4bet we can play almost perfect coz his range will be so narrow.

this is a good point, but i'm assuming he probably won't be calling much especially OOP. so he will only fold or 4bet which is why i call here. maybe i'm wrong and he does call OOP....

People tend to call wider when deep and he is loose so I guess he will call fair amount of time. On 100bb they rather 4bet or fold I agree on that. Other plus of 3bet would be building agresive image and maybe seting some dynamics at the table?

Sure a 3-bet this deep with suited ace is fine but we can also play this IP. Playing hands that can get the nut flush are very important deep.

This deep we can expect people to call a bit wider which not necessarily best for us unless he plays fit/fold in which case we most likely show a better result than calling preflop.
