      I like Hero's play. When facing regulars that view checks as weak I start checking more and more, plus that's actually a flop Hero would be perceived as folding often once he checks and not cbetting too weak.

      With regards to Villain play, I don't really know what he is thinking. Is it a thin vbet that wants to be perceived as polarized so you call 8x and 99 or what? After you check/call flop you usually do have a pair and he almost never has a flush after he checks turn so can't really say. I don't like it, I don't think T9 can get value that way and I don't understand his turn check either. He probably cannot hand read well so try to not 'represent' too much against him, especially not in close spots.
