      I deff think there are ways of improving the way I played this hand. How would you play it?

      I would check back flop.

      Your hand is good enough to play later streets imo, some implied odds when you hit your flush, you can bluff later as well, you can call if he delayed cbets. I'd rather bet complete air here instead of a hand with this potential. Most often I see here A high or a pair from 88 to AA with his line. If he wanted to check/fold flop he still check folds on almost all turns so there's no problem for you there imo.
