      Hey!

Villain is a thinking regular, I was chatting with him a bit :) . We played some hands vs eachother and I won them most of the time..

Actually, do you guys think he's bluffing here on the flop ? I think this is mostly for value :P . Because we did chat a bit and he told me that I'm a thinking player etc he's probably honest on such a flop.

      Well I can't fold turn?

What value on flop? He doesn't have 8x, only 88, TT, maybe JJ. That A on river is sickening. I would play like you.

Against a reg I often check back flop here. Depends how I view the reg but I don't expect to get much value with such a low kicker if I'm actually facing someone I deem quite competent.

As played, it sucks mostly on the turn actually because his most obv draw got there: QJ. I don't think a standard NL50 reg is capable of value betting Ax on the river there though after bluffing with it so I usually call and look like a fish when I'm wrong while tilting him when I'm right. Win/Win situation. :D

Also, I don't chat with regs about strategy.

Check back looks good yes but aren't there too many bad turns?

      I also think it's a turnfold.

What are the bad turn cards if you check back? If you are talking about overcards, a thinking reg will often NOT bet them if he has them because he'll let you represent them (assuming you will bet them too often) while if he checks, you still get to showdown often. If it's a lower card you have TP. There are not so many bad cards really.. J and Q give you some outs in case you are behind, K and A are bad if he has them but with position it's easy to play and everything else is good for you, isn't it?

As played, tough to say because you again have extra information from what you've chatted with him.
