not that different you just can make better use of things such as tells and table image. you can even try to make people think you're loose will you are tight by talking alout even when you're not in the game or trapping them by pretending you have a difficult dicision while you accily have the nuts. but it mostly depends on what player are on the table and what limit and what poker variant you are playing and how many players are on the table. think caro's books on pokertells by mike caro is a good book that tells you a lot of what you should be looking for on people bodylaungege for tells. for instants when someone dubble-check there card when a third suited card hits he problably doesn't have two of suite

the main difference is that people are usually looser, pay no attention whatsoever to pot size (10$ bet in a 100$ pot doesn't seem weird to them), and the standard of play is waaaay lower than online (the local casino's 5/10 tables are comparable to NL20 at most)
Well and of course you can spot the occasional tell, but don't rely on them! they can help your read, but always pay attention to betting patterns first

      That's it, basically

Always check raise, dont bet out, when you have a massive hand dont depend on them to stay super loose and call your huge overbet, make it a bet size they can still call (because they are f*cking terrible players.)
Don't play as loose as them.

that why I said there isn't much difference there are only more things you can mix is you're game which you can't relay on in onlinepoker because you can't see you're oppenents like the tells, the acting and the table presence. I think playing looser isn't the answer at all it all the depends on the players at the table. I play sometimes with very aggresive players it then would be a mistake playing aggrasive. you mostly need to play the opposite of how you're opponent are playing

@ swissmoumout: ofcourse betting pattern are also still important but if you master spotting tells you can easely narrow down the hands someone can have and with good practice you also would spot the differnce of someone acting and someone unaware that he's giving tells.
