Again little to no stats about the villain, first question, should I have raised preflop? Here's the hand:

      0,02/0,04 No-Limit Hold'em (6 handed)
Hand recorder used for this poker hand: PokerStrategy Elephant 0.57 by http://www.pokerstrategy.com.

Preflop: Hero is SB with A :diamond: , T :club:
      MP2 calls $0,04, MP3 calls $0,04, 2 folds, Hero calls $0,02, BB checks.

      Flop: ($0,16) 6 :spade: , T :diamond: , 5  (4 players)
Hero bets $0,12, BB calls $0,12, 2 folds.

      Turn: ($0,40) 8 :diamond: (2 players)
Hero bets $0,28, BB calls $0,28.

      River: ($0,96) 9 :spade: (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets $0,96, Hero folds.

      Final Pot: $1,92

Good play or call river? My thoughts were that any 7 makes the str8, also since we were limping he could've had the str8 earlier, maybe he could have 2 pair but considering his river bet that seems unlikely. Thought about it quite a bit but decided to fold in the end.

Played optimally PF, any hand its either raise/fold, so yes u should have raised if u wanted to play it.You're position is bad aswell so a fold would have been better.Anyway, the fold on the river is good, but i doubt he has a straight, i'd say he has 2 pair or such and is affraid of straight, not sure tho, it's hard to say at this lvl what he has, but since u checked if he had straight he'd have made a value bet not a pot sized bet.

Both limping and raising are fine pf.
I would also c/f river against potsize bet.
