      Welcome to my new blog.

This blog we be to track my progress throughout the year and as the title states this is the year i really want to build a bankroll both online and live.

I have a few goal and targets for the year, they are as follows:

      Online

      Partypoker - +$25 @1c/2c, +$50 @2c/4c, reach gold status on Pokerstrategy

      Genting - +$50 @2c/4c +$50 @2c/5c

      Pokerstars - +$200 @ 2c/5c

      Fulltilt - +$25 @1c/2c +$200 @2c/5c

I want to complete my goal as early as possible on Party and Genting so I can move my money from these sites to Stars and Tilt. I then want to complete my goals there and grind NL10 until I have 50+ BI for NL25.

      Live

my main goal here is just to build a live bankroll through the regular £10-£50 live tourneys I play. I will also be trying to play in some big live events this year and a cash or two in these would be a big boast. I want to play:

The Super Poker of Europe 2013 - Buy in 350 euro
The Paddypower Student Masters - Buy in 110 euro
The International Poker Open - Buy in 230 euro

If I can make enough money through these events I will of course play more.

So thats the plan for 2013 it sounds straight forward, but im sure I will be pulling my hair out from time to time.

Reaching gold status here is important though as when I finish my Diploma in June I really want to study poker more and improve my game massively. I plan on evaluating my online sessions more and posting hands in the evaluation forums as well as adding my opinions to other peoples posts. I also want to set up a good grinding station at home and a poker library.

I am hoping 2013 will be a year I can start building a proper bankroll and make some decent cash. i also hope my good friend and poker partner Sabo999 will do the same, he is already of to a great start since the end of December with about £1500 in poker winnings and if he listens to me about bankroll management/building we will be on tour in 2014!lol

Well I hope you enjoy my new blog, if anyone can be bothered to follow it. I will try and make it interesting and fun to read and I really hope to bring the Pokerstrategy community some good news throughout the year.

Feel free to discuss anything poker related with me here wheather it is about live poker or online.

Good luck to everybody out there that has set themselves some goals for 2013 also.

All the best, keep us updated.

Be a bit carefull with live tourneys though as variance can hit hard sometimes.

Are you planning on playing the €350 even if you don't manage to grow your live bankroll?

I'm curious as to why you're planning to play at multiple rooms? Or are you going to be clearing a bonus on each before moving on?

Also, how come you choose to play Cash Online but MTT's Live?

It seems like you have set yourself some reasonable goals and I wish you the bets of luck getting them! :s_cool:

I will have to satellilte into the bigger events online but im confident i can do this
and im hoping to cash for a decent amount in the first one so im rolled for the rest but of course i can't count on that, but if i sat into it it will only cost a few euros so no big loss.

I play live MTT's because where I am from there are no casinos and hardly any cash action. If I get knocked out of the tourney a cash game may start which is deallers choice with bets of 1, 3 and 5 and they can be tough to play without a decent amount of cash on you. Poker isnt really allowed in N.Ireland so we just organise small buy in tourneys in our local gaelic clubs.

Im studying at the minute and working part time so i can't make all the games i would like to at least until the summer so id be hoping that play more then and start to really grow my bankroll.

two of the sites im only playing on to release strategy stuff from coaching sites and when im happy with meeting my targets that hopefully won't be too long, then i will move my funds from them site to just playing on stars and tilt with an increased roll.

      all questions welcome.

      January Update

      Online

First things first, PartyPoker is theeeeee worst site ever! my goals for that site aren't even close to completed but i have reached silver status on Pokerstrategy so i will keep working at it and hopefully i will reach my targets soon so i can withdraw the money and start into my Genting goals.

      Live

My main aim this year is live poker and building a bankroll. January wasn't a good month for me

I played 9 live tourneys with buy ins from £10 to £30 making 6 final tables but only min cashing once so I added a big fat £0 to my live bankroll.

Thats all for now folks feel free to comment, i will update for the month of february in the next few days

      February Update

      Online

No change here as I haven't had a lot of time to play online

      Live

I played 8 times in February with a total stake at £145 and cashing for a total of £215, so a small profit was made.

I won a £10 rebuy home game for £65,min cashed in a £20 double chance tourney, Finished 2nd in a £10 rebuy, a tourney I won the following week for £80 and min cashed in a week later.

A decent month for me and much better than January.

The downside to February is the fact that I never made it to the Super Poker Event of Europe that I said I wanted to go to, money was tight and my friend canceled the room we had booked, I never won my seat to the main event anyway so I was probably better off not going and spenting a fortune.
We do plan on hitting another event in Dublin in May though that has a nice 150 euro buy in. I can look forward to this and it also gives me a chance to build my bankroll some more.

The highlight of the month would have to be playing in a pup tourney in Armagh with two well known Irish pros Padrig Parkinson and Scott Gray this was the Armagh Leg of the Irish Pub Poker Tour of Ireland that they done for 888.com

We played cards with them for few hours as they told us some great poker stories, from Europe to Vegas and it just made myself and Sabo999 want to do what they do for a living even more.

Well thats it for February, im a bit lazy and as you know its almost the end of March so if I can be bothered in a few days I will up date for March.

Good luck at the tables and may you run like a god.

      March Update

So I finally get around to updating for March.

      Online

Well I can't seem to find the time or the patience to complete my goals at Party Poker so I havn't even started on Genting but i did get some of my losses back at NL5 on stars. I promise to make some head way by the end of May on my Party Poker goals so I can hopefully make gold status here on Poker Strategy and start on my Genting goals.

I did however finish 4th in a $2 tourney on stars the first Sunday of March for $381

      Live

I played 6 live tourneys this month with a total stake of £135 i only cashed for £30 however. I made 4 final tables but couldn't turn it into a profitable month :(

I didn't make it to the Paddy Power Student Masters either so nothing exciting to report this month sadly. I had imagined winning the Student Masters and taking my free seat to the Irish open and shipping that tourney.... I will keep dreaming.

I will 100% update this blog for April next week instead of being a month behind.... story of my life lol

      April Update

      Online

No real change here as I didn't really play much due to various assignments needing handed in for my course.

      Live

I played 6 live tourneys this month with a total stake of £155
4 final tables which included a win, a heads up chop, a 3 way chop and a 6th place saw me lift a total of £325.

April was a good month and I felt good about how I played the bankroll is increasing slowly and at the end of this month currently stands at £500 which I hope to double by the end of May.

Next time I will be posting about my trip to Dublin for the Irish Eyes Legends Cup

      May Update

      Online

Well not much to talk about here again as I was very busy getting assignments finished up for my HND. I have now finished the course and its summertime babbbbby!

I plan on putting in a lot of study over the summer and a lot of hours at the virtual felt, so i really hope to close in on some of my online targets over the coming months.

      Live

I played 7 live tourneys this month were i made 2 final tables finishing 2nd and 8th. It was a pretty break even month apart from my bankroll taking a hit from the currency exchange lol

I played the Irish Eyes Legends Cup event in the City West hotel Dublin at the end of the month and although the turnout for it was bad I had a great weekend. The buy in to the main event was €150 and had an accumulator format were you could play all the day 1's and take all your chips through to day 2. I choose to use just the one bullet and made it through to day 2 with just over 45k (22bb)

At the start of day two I was seated beside Mick McCloskey who had played 3 day 1's and was chip leader with over 170k. Over all there had been only 78 entries with 23 making it to day 2. I wasn't able to get anything going and get the much needed double up, I shoved twice with no callers and then moved to another table. The second hand at my new table I was dealt pocket 2's with 10bb and when the button raised I shoved, the button called and showed AJ, I was ahead. The board ran out AJ834 and that was me out in 18th place only the top 9 were paid. Onto the next one!

The champions league final was on so we hit the bar for a few beer and then returned to the card room to play some cash, we played from about 10.30pm to 6am and had a great time and made some new poker friends and also finished with a small profit. oh and I almost forgot... the night before the main event myself and the two lads I was with went down to the closest room to the hotel which was JP McCanns Village Green Card Room I busted early but they finished 4th for €90 and a heads up chop for €300 which we had agreed to split any money made beforehand. All in all a successful weekend of poker and a lot of fun. Roll on October for the IPO.

You can use a more effective Bankroll Management with Bankroll on different sites by adding them all up and playing the limit that the total Bankroll dictates.

So if you have a total of $400 (including let say 10% of your live account) in all your poker accounts combine you can play NL10. Nl5 one table at Fulltilt if you have less and 4 table at Pokerstars if you have a lot.

      Hence multitabling from different pokersite.

you can reach your goal faster of Goal status and being able to deposit in 1 main site from the different poker sites

      Just a suggestion or Idea

      June Update

I didn't realise i hadn't updated the blog for June, so just getting round to it now. Nothing really exciting happen this month anyway and I am not really anywhere near where i'd like to be. I know I will complete my goals at some stage and I will keep track of my progress through this blog and my diary anyway.

      Online

Well im disapointed with my online goals as I have not even started, i just can't put the required time in. I have played a few tourneys and went fairly deep which i was happy about. I have done some studying, reading some articles on pokerstrategy and watched a few MTT strategy videos too.

      Live

Well I played 12 live tourneys this month final tabling 8 times making a small profit of £100 from finishing 3rd, two 2nd place finishes and a 1st place

      July Update

Well this has taken me some to get round to doing!lol

      Online

I grinded a little bit online this month but no near enough to close in on my goals, maybe I should just give up but that is just not like me.

      Live

Well I only played 6 live tourneys this month final tabling 5 times which is good but turning that into a nice profit is the annoying part as I only cashed twice. I played my first monthly game at my local poker club this month and I was really happy about how I played, there was over $4k in the prizepool with $1500 up top. I made it to the final table although I was one of the short stacks I felt I could still win it. The first half hour at the final we saw about 2 flops as everybody was playing tight afraid of bubbling, (8 players got paid from the final 9) We had thought there would be an agreement that the bubble would get paid however one player said no.
So the action comes to me after 40 minutes of folding im UTG with QQ and I shove, a double up here puts be in with a grat chance of going on to win as nobody at the table is really deep at this stage. The CO calls with AQs the flop come 3, J, 9 with two spades a blank hits the turn, I turn away now as I can't look at the river, I then glance over and there it is..... a bloody spade :( I am the bubble boy!

I lost £110 this month and if I hadn't ran so cold at final tables, this month could have been very very different.

      August Update

      Online

Well I grinded a lot on pokerstars this month determined to get back those losses. The month started of well but eventually turned on me leaving me down even more money. I did however do some study and analyzed a lot of hands I had marked on HM, I posted some here on the hand evaluations and this helped me a lot even with just thinking more about what im doing in a particular spot the next time im at the table. I also watched some youtube video's from a guy called gripsed and can I recommend these videos to anyone out there who is trying to break out of the micros.

      Live

So I played even less live tourneys this month than last month. I played 5 final tabling 3 times but only cashing once... well twice if you count the 10% I had of a friend in the Bridge Club monthly. (Sabo999 from the forum)

I decided I would play the monthly game again and hopefully go a little further this time. Well things started slowly and it wasn't looking good I could easily have lost my head and threw all my chips in but I kept my patience. After the break my table was broke and at my new table I got all in with 1010 against AK and I doubled up, I then hit a little run picking up a few decent pots before knocking out a guy who held 1010 vs my AK.
I then had tens again soon after and raised I got one caller from the BB the flop came J high with 2 diamonds the BB check raised all in and I though for a second thinking was he on the flush draw or had he hit the jack, I figured it was the flush draw as he may not get it in just yet with a jack. I called and he showed a flush draw and my tens held up.

So i made it to the final table for the second month in a row 9 players left with 8 paid again, there was talk about doing a bubble but this was during the first hand and I had AQs which I shoved over an opening raise, he called and I was up against... you know it... AK. BOOM! bubble boy for the second month running. However myself and Sabo999 had agreed to take 10% of each other and even though he came to the final table the shortest stack he ran well busting KK twice and finished with a 4 way chop and I at least got my buy in back.

I need a good September if im going to have any sort of bankroll for the IPO in October.

I can't find my diary to update the past two months of my blog ffs

All I know is that it hasn't been good and I have no bankroll live or online

I started working as a dealer in October which at least GTD's me money at the end of a poker game so at least thats +EV.

I will have a good look for it and update asap, so I can have a complete record of 2013 on here to look back on.

Massive work needs to be put in on my game for next year and maybe I will actually put together a suitable bankroll for both online and live also, so im not playing with scared money.

      September Update

      Online

Ok so I didn't play much online this month and things didn't really go my way when I did.

      Live

I only played 3 live tourneys this month one of which was a heads up tourney. I final tables one tourney where i busted in 5th place for no cash. The heads up tourney was good fun but it was run by a bunch of people that have no clue how to run a tourney nevermind play heads up poker. The guy I was drawn against in the first round didn't show up so I got a bye to the second round. The structure of the tourney was a 1k starting stack with a 15 minute clock when all the round 1 matches were over round 2 started, my problem with the structure was that the blinds kept going up no matter how long a round took to finish rather than starting again with the same blinds and the same stack or at least when you made it through the round and collected your opponents chips and had a 2k stack they could have slightly adjusted the blind structure to suit. The problem was that by the time you got to the final players would only have 1/2bb and have to be all in every hand and it would just be a flip. I told the organisers this would happen and they decided to give the players in the 3rd place playoff and the final an extra 10k in chips which allowed for more play.

Any way to cut a long story short a drew my girlfriend in the second round and she made light work of me on here way to finishing 3rd after losing her semi final when I guy called her all the way to the river with a gutshot and hit of course vs her trip jacks. I would really enjoy playing another heads up tourney providing the structure was much better and I even think myself and fellow poker strategist Sabo999 and keen heads up player my organise our own which I know would be a lot better organised and actually give the more skilled players a chance of winning rather than just having a flipament.
