      Hero?
I don't know whether to check.push, or just bet. Check sounds good, because he could pay us up more on the river with weak hands if we show weakness here. And we give him the chance to bluff on the turn, which is is very capable of.
If he has a strong Ax hand, we are going AI anyways, so we should maximize vs his weaker holdings.

You could bet like 1/2 to induce bluffs. Although I think he could be the type of guy who goes till the end with Ax -hit, so bet/bet/bet to make the most out of this hand!

      Hi Imimba,

Preflop: I would 3-bet larger versus a potential fish and OOP.

Postflop: So he calls a 3-bet and then a cbet on AK8r. What weak hands can he have that fold turn if we bet? Most of his range is Ax so lets just get value now so don't run the risk of not getting all the money in on the river (without overbet or raise).

if it was A8s, would the 3bet be the best play here preflop?
      or at least decent?

What would be the purpose of a 3-bet with A8s versus this semi fish player?

      Can you 3-bet for value?
Can you 3-bet as a bluff?

You're right, I should 3bet with a merged light value range, A8s isnt strong enough for that.

If villain is a fish we should stick to a pure value range until we know more.
