      CO: $1.90 (19 bb)
      BTN: $9.46 (94.6 bb)

      MP2: $11.74 (117.4 bb)
      MP3: $5.54 (55.4 bb)

Pre-Flop: Hero is BB with 8
4 folds, MP3 calls $0.10, 2 folds, SB completes, Hero checks

      Flop: ($0.30) 9 (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, MP3 checks

      Turn: ($0.30) K (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, MP3 checks

      River: ($0.30) 5 (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $0.10, MP3 raises to $0.40, SB folds, Hero calls $0.30

Results (listed below in white, highlight to see): $1.10 pot ($0.05 rake)

1] I called on the river because of the showdown value. Nevertheless I should have betted 1/2 pot or 2/3 pot. That was a play mistake.

      Check/fold all the way.
Adding extra $0.10 to the pot on the river doesn't really make sense.

      We have 3 situations:
      1) Villains are holding crap and fold, you win the pot which you also would have won when facing a showdown (because Villains were holding crap).
      2) One of the Villains calls with a hand that might be slightly better/worse/equal to yours. You can win $0.10 extra
      3) One of the Villains raises your bet and you can chose between folding (so just losing $0.10 for no reason) and calling while you know you're probably behind.

If you really have the best hand you'll win the pot in a showdown.
You're only risking money here because you'll only get called/raised when Villain is likely to be holding the better hand here.

      Hope it's a bit clear.
But I might just be completely wrong here :)

Edit: While brushing my teeht I came up with one more thing (lol!).
You say you have showdown value here, why not check the river and call any reasonable bet here?

i would check/fold river but if you want to see showdown you shouldnt bet at all just check/call since you have only one pair with 8 as kicker so you dont want to have big pot since alot of hands beat you

      Hi Gerv,

easy check call river. I don't like your call against mp3s raise but your bet is also to small when you want to bet the river then bet pot.

      Best Regards
