      Hello everyone!

Before starting I would like to warn everybody that this will be a fun blog! :f_biggrin:

I will also try to keep most posts small (except this one :P ).

This is my second attempt on creating a blog, the first one was very structured, with my targets and rules and blah blah blah which I got bored myself before everyone else did :) Through this blog I will try to keep myself motivated and a track of how I am doing.

I will also post other interesting videos and articles that dont have to do with poker, a nice little break with everyone so tune in! :f_cool:

Ok enough with the boring stuff!!! :D

      About me:

My name is Nicolas (or Nick), 22 and I am currently studying Business management in Scotland, Dundee.

I enjoy spending time with my friends, having a good time, playing pool every now and then and smoking shisha which I love! I will have a game of basketball or football and visit the gym occasionally as well.

My big hobby aside from poker is magic, being a magician for the last 7-8 years of my life. I love anything that has to do with illusions and manipulation and also being a huge fun of card magic and sleight of hand. Unfortunately like poker, magic requires A LOT of time week in week out and at some point I had to choose what gives me the most enjoyement and fully focus on that :s_cry: I still enjoy performing but I am just not improoving any more. (Anyone want to guess who my fav poker player is? ;) )

Pokerwise I used to play Sngs on Ongame platform but two months ago, I withdrew all of my money, deposited $125 on Ipoker network and started playing NL5 Speed/Zoom 6max which I found that I enjoy very much.

Playing tracked was a great advantage for me as I got all this valuable information, videos and coaching which really helps you. In the last two months I can definetely say that my postflop game exploded!!

Right now I am playing NL10 and taking shots at NL20.

 My main target at the moment is not to win money but to get better, improove my game and reach a level where I can beat comfortably NL10-NL20 and then move up. :s_cool:

 I am trying to be playing minimum of 2-3 hours a day while having the time for studying as well.

 Finally I will be trying to reach NL100 by the last day of August this year if possible.

Generally I am a very positive guy who doesnt give up and I believe that when you put your mind on something you can really achieve it no matter what! I love motivational videos and I will be posting some motivational stuff of what I feel will benefit others as well.

I have seen people do unbelievable things using only their will and motivation! Have a look at the video below and see what I mean :f_cool:

First rule (keeping posts short) already broken!

      Enjoy!

@ Brokesobroke: Thanks man, what stakes do you play? I would assume NL50+ from your diamond status?

On a different note here is a hand I played at NL20 vs Mega fish with huge stack :)

I will never get tired of the feeling when you get reraised holding the mortal nuts!! :)

Thanks man, my target is to be playing NL100 by end of the summer.

Do you think with 3 hours a day 7 days a week that is do able?

My short term goal is to build my roll for NL20 and stay there this time ;)

At the same time I feel working on my mental game is more +EV than any strategy article or video at the moment!

For those who havent seen this before, its interesting to see how some people start out. I dont know to what extent what is been said in the video is true or is just for Tv but nevertheless is very inspirational where Ivey came from and how he started.

Played quite a bid of NL10 6max speed today since I had the time.

Managed to grind 4.5k hands. Im very proud of myself since even though I am running 4 buy ins below EV I felt I played my A game for most of both sessions I had without tilting at any time.

Also even though my HM icon was a TAG my red and blue lines reversed for the session. Either I played too agressive or I try to get a lot of value when I have the best hand on the river ending up not getting anything.

I suspect this is a leak of mine so I decided that tommorow when I cant put my opponent on a specific hand to value raise solidly on the river I will be raising 30% of the pot and see what effect will have on my lines.

Im off to bed but will try to post some hands here tommorow from todays session.

      Have a good night everyone.

It's a lovely day here in Dundee, so I decided I am going out with my girlfriend to enjoy some (rare) good weather. Before doing so I completed all of the notes for regs and fish on my Holdem manager so I am ready and kicking to go for another session later. There is also a 25 pounds freezeout tournament at the casino tonight which Im thinking whether is worth attending.

A couple of interesting hands from yesterday.
I kept clashing with the regs a lot and even though more people will say its not +EV I just couldnt help it, they are so exploitable in certain spots. Once they are outside their comfort zone in a new situation or weird line they loose it.

 Note 1: Remember to value bet my river before I am timed out! :O

 Note 2: Rethink the idea of what an NL10 regular plays like.

Some weird lines that I was experimenting with yesterday.

      hey elchipriota, nice blog!

those were some interesting hands, it might be helpful to post villains stats too in order for others to understand the hands a bit more. i play zoom too, and find it to be much more exciting than regular tables :)

      my thoughts on the hands:

      hand 1:
i would likely xr flop. even though it is super dry, it is likely at least one player has a Qx type of hand, and utg could even 3bet KK/AA vs your xr.

      hand 2:
generally i dont 4bet super light (75s) or with blockers (KQ, KJ, AQ, etc) vs a player who is not full-stacked and therefore is presumably fishy and will likely call/jam. as played it seems like a great line though. what was villain's 3bet %?

      hand 3:
i would likely flat KQs ip, by 3betting we turn it into a bluff (without very specific reads) and often waste it. as played i would likely cbet flop when villain checks, since AA/AK will likely xc since they checked flop, plus we build up the pot to fold out KK-JJ and win more when we make our flush. i guess river is just a time out/misclick?

anyways that is just my opinion. cool blog by the way, i will be following for sure :f_biggrin:

Thanks for the kind words yougotfelted51.

I failed to mention that above but all three hands were against regs. I noticed that vs regs weird lines sometimes can be very +EV.

I agree with you about ZOOM > than regular tables! Some argue that reads are more dificult to be accurate but I disagree. Zoom forced me to learn how to use stats properly and learn what a decent sample size for each stat is. Then its a matter of time to gather the needed stats for each player.

On hand number two I got 500+ hands on the reg. He 3bets 15.6% on bb v btn and I assume even wider vs me since I open 70% from the button and I expect him to know that. He also folds to 4bets 62.5% of the times which gave me the idea of a light 4bet.

If I didnt get any showdown value on flop I feel I would cbet there to take it down once and then give up.

Hand 3 I timed out trying to think the max he would call with AT+ unfortunately :f_mad:

Heh... I know the feeling :f_eek:

Yes speed. I had to totally change my HUD in order to have as much stats as possible while playing since you dont have any time to mouse over and open the tabs while on play.

Plus side is that I believe in Ipoker the field is softer.

My plan is play up to NL50 on Ipoker and then switch to Pokerstars where I have a tracked account and some money to play NL5 during the day when the traffic is slow on ipoker.

Hand 1 don't need to think outside box just raise bigger... As played flop... C/R 3x turn and he pays you off anyway because of your goofy line... Heh

      Hand 2 wp

      Hand 3 Stop timing out.

On another note, I just finished my session for today at 3100 hands.

I had to play NL5 on stars since there was not enough traffic on Ipoker.

Played pretty solidly, run above EV for most of my session and was about to finish with + 6 buy ins for the night when this happened.
I feel I lost the minimum there but still leaves a sour taste :f_mad:

Hello everyone, after a long night at the local casino playing at a terrible extremely slow cash game table with blinds being 0.25c/0.25c I am considering taking a break from live poker for some time.

The fact that the rake is 10% (!) doesnt encourage me to go back either.

Instead I decided that today I will constuct a list with my favorite ZOOM 6max videos that I have viewd so far and which I feel have helped me improove as a player .

Maybe some other people will find some interest in them like I did.

Thanks for the nice words mate,

Try to keep things simple in those spots imo.

AK+ i would 4bet/ship it depending how deep I am (the deeper the more inclined I would be to call with AK,QQ)

I will call/fold some hands such as AT+ from late position.

Also do you use a HUD? I think stats are the most importand thing to help u with your decisions in those spots.

This is a very nice video about the concept, unfortunately is for gold+ members: "Built you edge in 3bet pots"

Seems like it favours the more experienced players like negreanu imo.

      Just finished 12th out of 920, on a $4.40 4max $2.5 gtd on Stars.

Just my second shove of the day in 5 hours and I busted QQ vs A8 X(

Update: Played the $8.80 50k Gtd on stars today. 13000 runners, the actual pot went to 100K though with first place being $14000.

Min cashed $22 at place 872. Crucial hand was AK vs my 44.

Most importand thing is that my current journey on cash game really improoved my postflop play on tournaments as well.

Who knows, I might ship one of this big ones these days :D
