This is the first time I post a hand. Should I have just check-folded the river? I decided to bet small and fold a raise, but I probably shouldn't have bet at all. Maybe I already played the flop and river badly as it was a somewhat scary board.

      Any coments are apreaciated.

On the river, you need to ask yourself whether you still have value on the River or not.

If on average, you are beating his River Calling range (you win >50% when called), then you should bet here. If not, you should fold.

      1) Betting small may induce bluffs. But this is NL2, basic assumption is that players are passive. So I don't think people are going to pretend to have a flush when you get raised.

      2) Ace is a scare card, and so is the flush completing - Hard to gain value from worse.

You have not really provided too much information about your opponent so it's kind of hard to decide on the best play. Vs a really loose opponent, I think betting the River may be good. You gain value from 88 99 TT 7X and maybe a hadn like 65 or 66.

Vs a tighter opponent, probably check/fold is better.

Thank you very much! I didn't know much about the player or his play style yet. My bet was mostly because I was afraid he would bluff the river if I checked. Is that ever a good reason to bet?
