In recent hands villain started to open up his range, so i was 3betting him in position (5-6 times) and he was folding.

pre flop: 3betting him until he give me reason not to.
flop: here i dont know what is the best option, check or bet, decided to bet for protection+ can get value from 88,99.when he min check raises me i thought that he had at, sets, but most likely oc+fd. Now i think its too exploitable 3betting him just to fold on that board

      Hi Dalmar,

Preflop: I don't like 3-betting hands like this OOP when we run the risk of getting called a lot and then we play OOP with a weak hand.

Now we look at your recent history of him folding OOP to us and we can expect that he may adjust at some point, especially if he is IP. So I would not 3-bet garbage like this here.

Postflop: I would also bet/fold here. We can't really check and play a guessing game. We should bet to take the pot down and get some thin value from pairs/some overs.

As a side note, when you a leave a reply please hit the "advise judge to take another look" button.

We have to look at building a range for 3-betting in general. Each position should be taken independently.

For example, in a spot like this where we can expect to get called more we can 3-bet AQ+, JJ+ for value and then add bluffs with hands such as 76s, 97s, etc. Hands that are not easily dominated and can flop some equity.

Of course you can change this as you find out more about the opponent and we build some history.
