      Hi all,

To start off, my name is Rob, i'm 21 and from the UK. Currently at university studying sports therapy, which unfortunately has countless lectures, with some lecturers not even letting you turn up after a few beverages the night before! hardly uni!

      History-

First played poker about a year and a half ago with some mates who wanted an easy target! came 3rd out of 12 so wasn't run over, however my use of stick instead of check due to playing blackjack previously, showed my incompetence!

Few months went by and i saw a post on a certain book of faces about high stake poker, my brain almost imploded when i saw the money being exchanged!

Needless to say i joined 888 poker for my free $8, i then proceeded to play nl2 one table for about 3 months for shits and giggles after a few pints. Every so often i would make $5 bucks on cash games and then go and play a $5 sit and go, BRM ftw!

Because i never got my roll above $8 it eventually expired! Much like my free $50 PS one tabling for an hour every 5 days wasn’t going to get me too far. If I had known it would expire I would have put it all on red!

When this happened i started looking for strategy, which from reading most other blogs is how everyone finds this place!

i then one tabled for about 6months thinking i would fail miserably if I tried two, turns out i was wrong! fastforward 8 months. After having numerous months of playing the odd 1000 hands a month i have reached the dizzying heights of six tables!

:spade:  :diamond: :club: :spade:  :diamond: :club: :spade:  :diamond: :club: :spade: :diamond: :club: :spade:  :diamond: :club: :spade: :diamond: :club:

      I thought I'd make a blog to.....

Track my online exploits- currently fishing around NL5 full ring (when/if i reach nl10 i'll mix it with some 6max)

Track my live comings and goings

and to get to know more people within site!

With live i generally play local pub donkaments, where the top 60 each month end up in a £1000 guaranteed prize pool. Although i have also been to the local casino once a few months ago which i loved and will go back once I'm finished for Easter and then the summer. I have seen some very crazy hands to say the least

Currently my biggest monthly volume was 7000 hands last month! winning! One day i will break the 10k barrier!

I would post my graph, but I try to just look at the end of every month just to stop thinking about how good or bad the month is going. So I’ll do that at the end of March!

Congratulations on making it this far!! (death by walls of text!) I will now reward you with:

Hi Rob, welcome to blogs. :)

Good intro sir made me laugh ( I so hope it was meant to!). I looked in because the sign said 'Gone Fishing' which was the same sign I had on my (empty) desk at school! Glad I did now. :)

Good luck with the blog and I think with that stlye you'll get plenty of views. Remeber to put the odd bit of poker in here as well though. :f_biggrin:

      Best regards and have fun,

      Mal.

Glad you enjoyed the intro! I'll have to try to remember the old poker thing!

Well I'm off to my local pubs poker night. £10 buy in usually get about 30 or so players, unfortunately the pay out is 1st and 2nd get x amount 3rd gets the buy in back... But its still fun.

Overall I'm break even after going for six months, which means many third places! Fingers crossed my luck will change tonight....

I'll also relent and post this months graph so far, when i can work out how to do it again!

I've got the image through Imageshack but when i put it in here and click insert image it doesn't seem to work, it says the image is invalid (its a PNG) but it says thats accepted?!?!

Any help would be appreciated as I am just woeful with computers at the best of times!

Well i found the rogue / which was causing me the hassle!

Graph from yesterday, almost all 6maxfastforward.

Only played just over 600 hands in total with 6max but I've seen some hands where short stackers have shoved into 2 or 3 people with ATo and AJs pre, hopefully i can get some stats on these guys to adjust

Good to know someone is reading!

Had a Torrid time yesterday evening playing 6maxfastforward, donated 3/4's of my winnings from Saturdays two sessions back to other villains!

Having a few issues with villains taking obscure lines, which from Full Ring means 'I have teh NUTZ' however after posting a couple of hands for evaluation in 6max it means 'I am full of rubbish'

Going to go back to playing Full ring for the next few days, hopefully get some more EV$ money....

Dropped almost another buy in tonight.
I'm convinced it was because my fold button had morphed into another call/raise button.

Todays session taught me to remember to think about relative strength...

live and learn keep on playing

Played my usual Wednesday poker tournament at a local (ish pub)

not much to say until blinds were 400/200 i had a stack of 4800.

UTG1 had about 15000. He didn't have the word fold in his vocabulary :f_love: - three previous hands which he had shown all three 82o,72s  soooted and 92o in these hands he had bet, and check raised with 72 on a JdQdAd flop.....

To cut a long story short i wake up with with AJ in the SB, shove. I've never seen someone insta call so quick  , so with that know im almost always beaten, he then tables KK.

Going to hopefully play some online tomorrow. Today was spent reading up on tournament poker specifically the M ratio and doing some equity shizzle. :s_cool:

just finishing off a session now.

Pleased with how i played, only issue i think i had was called 3 or so 3bets which were too marginal.

Still lost nearly a buy in and a half but that is how variance and the cards can go some days.

You can't expect to win every one, you'd be a fool to even think that at the micro level

only had 30 odd hands on villain was 30/7 in those. PFA of 12, just seemed spazzy.

      Hero (SB): $5 (100 bb)
      BB: $12.50 (250 bb)
      MP: $12.50 (250 bb)
      CO: $7.57 (151.4 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 9 T
MP folds, CO calls $0.05, BTN calls $0.05, Hero raises to $0.30, BB folds, CO calls $0.25, BTN calls $0.25

      Flop: ($0.95) T 5 4 (3 players)

Hero bets $1.20, BTN raises to $2.90, Hero raises to $4.15 and is all-in, BTN calls $0.71 and is all-in

      River: ($9.27) T :f_cool: (2 players, 2 are all-in)

      Hand 2
first hand with villain. What would you do when villain calls my raise pre and smooth calls the flop. i know it hits his range quite well.

      BTN: $6.12 (122.4 bb)
      Hero (SB): $5.07 (101.4 bb)
      BB: $5.59 (111.8 bb)

      Flop: ($1.95) J Q T (2 players)
Hero bets $1.20, CO calls $1.20

      Turn: ($4.35) 4 (2 players) ?( ?( ?( ?(

I ended up shoving i thought i was good when i didn't get raised o nthe flop.... If i was to bet and get called again. my stack by the river would be so small was the reason for my shove

      opinions appreciated!!

Made it to 20k hands--- last few days i've found a couple of leaks which i need to fix.
      These are
Betting the river because i start to think of my redline
Isolating too much with marginal holdings in the Small Blind
not looking at relative strength of my hands on high card boards

Hopefully i'll sort these out over the next few days and dig myself out of my horrible week where im down 4 buy ins, Mainly from the marginal hand part preflop which gets bigger and bigger down later streets.

Hopefully the next time a post my graph at the end of the month the profit i have left won't be gone and my green will be steadily inclining again! I'll also post my stats if any one is interested

AA: Bigger 4bet to commit preflop saves the heartache, especially full ring at this level. No cuty-pie stuff and 'trying to play a little poker', you're out of position and the board now sucks big time. Just bang them thar chips in preflop and rub the money ...! :D
On a good day I could check/fold the turn...on a good day.

Why people at micros are so obsessed with having a positive redline I'll nev er know, it's much nicer to see the green one go up imo! :s_cool:

      Run hot,

villain was 13/9 over 141 hands and had 3bet of 11.5 when on the BU. i debated 4bet folding here but with me being in EP i thought he would only do this with AA/KK?

Well online for me is a state atm. Definitely tilted the past week and a half. I think the issue i have is not being able to let go of a hand when i get to the river. Flop and Turn i seem to be able to let go of my big over pairs and top pair top kicker when faced with aggression. Its when people play the hand passively and call 2 streets. the Phrase relative strength comes to mind again....

The other tilt which leads me usually to what is written in the above is entitlement tilt i think it would probably be called. Where i have to fold my good hands to a point where i think this has happened to me x amount of times they have to have a worse hand now and i call and they have the better hand i put them on!

The past two weeks i think have burnt me out big time. three weeks ago it looked really good, i had $61.00 in the green and $78 in ev over 17000 hands over almost all NL5 and 1000 of speed mixed with NL4 . This is where i started to think NL10 won't be far away..... since then i have been on losers tilt? i think its called where i have been running bad and with the running bad playing bad hasn't been far behind as i try to make catch up and call down with marginal holdings thus maximising my lossess!

Sorry about the rant.... had to get it off my chest
