      Hey,

Who is in BB? 3betting 99 and other thin value pairs from SB is very BB dependent and also very PFR dependent ofc. I assume PFR is fishy because of stack so you can get value from him.

If that is true, I think that flop is not the best to bet. That's a flop very good to bluff on and that makes it very bad to vbet 99 on. I think your line should be to check/call once and give up because you will be behind too often in this spot. If you bet, you make him fold some overcards to your 99 but also put in a lot of money vs better hands. If you check, you can induce some bluffs and keep the pot smaller. When he raises, it's clearly a fold.

Agree that a bet on the flop is in fact not that great, as the hands that would fold to our bet and that beat us are only a small part of his range.

Do you really think it is profitable to check-call here? Do you think we will often get to the showdown in this situation?

We get to showdown reasonably often but overall it's just kind of a bad situation for us since most loose passive players overalue Ax preflop so they have more Ax pre than they would have hands like Jx. That's betting is not that great either and I think people are passive enough that we can check with the plan of calling once and not be bluffed of our hand plus induce a good amount of bluffs from our opponent to make it profitable to call.
