      Pokerblog Barlin63
After I watched the "Champions Stand Up One More Time Than The Rest - Part 1" video from Raskolnikov I decided to give it a shot. Not that I don't study, read books and analyze my game but because I want to move to the next level. I played a lot of tournaments and switched recently from 45SNG and Free rolls to cash games. Almost two years ago I started with a few dollars to play with and managed to extend my bank roll to give or take $300. I got the most value from $100 MTT free rolls from PS (thank you for that) with several top 10 and top 5 results. For the cash games I realized a profit of $20 but I am on a down swing lately (-$10, 5BI).

What I have done so far to get to the level I am right now:
      • Watched numerous video's from Pokerstars as well as Poker Strategy (>300)
      • Read several books about the game: Harrington (3X Tournaments, 1X on-line Cash Games), Collin Moshman (SNG) and several other books
      • Played almost every day tournaments and lately also micro cash games (0,01/0,02 FR)

So far so good and given the fact that I already invested much time and believe that I have the analytical skills to beat the micro's I start this blog to share my goals and progress. Every week I will update the blog and show what I have done to achieve my goals. Out of the cash hands played (VPIP/PFR/3Bet 16.8%/11.9%,3.3%) I have determined a few areas for improvement:
      • Lack of volume (4 tables max two hours +/- 500 hands)
      • Aggressiveness post-flop (Fold to F Cbet, Fold to F bet: 66.8%, 70.7%)
      • Hand analysis

First of all foremost important goal is to achieve the gold status so that I can watch the other video's in the Raskolnikov's series. I truly understand PS reasons to make this series gold and I hope that, despite will not watch the rest this month and started only in April, Raskolnikov will stand his promise for support :-).
      Bank roll management
To reach my goals I will use a strict Bank Roll management of 30 Bi. That means that I will start with a bank roll of $60 (out of previous winnings) and that I will move to the next level once I reach $120. Somewhere around 25Bi I will start occasionally to play some higher limit tables to get use to that limit. When I face down swings I will move back to the previous level when I am below 25 Bi. Please feel free to comment on my Bank roll system.
      Goals for next three months:
      • Achieve the gold stats (eventually I will buy the points if I am not able to collect 500 points a month)
      • Play at least 5 days a week for 2 hours
      • Increase the number of hands played (more tables or rush) to >750 per session
      • Study at least one hour a day (watch movies, read books and analyze games previous day
      • Post at least 2 hands per session (so at least 10 a week) in more detailed way as suggested by Raskolnikov
      • Double my bankroll to $120 so I can move to the next level

As per tomorrow April 2, I will start the challenge and every Sunday I will report about the progress. I am motivated and will thankfully use the material available for me. I thank and applaud the coaches for what they have contributed and hope they will support me in my challenge by analyzing my hands and keep making new videos.

I had hopes for better results but I am still on a down swing. I played some hands not very optimal but I also ran in some ridiculous hands which cost me 100BB. I put 7 hands on the forum and out of these hands I guess that I am a bit too loose post flop. Learned already a lot from the coaches who analyzed my hands. I will keep posting them and continue my efforts to make a profit. Next week I will play according to the BSS chart and not bloat the pot too much. As per the start of this challenge I am down 6,5bi and this cannot continue much longer. If I will have another 2 or 3 weeks like this I need to revert to Tournaments in which I already made some profit.

You can find some of the hands in the forum and below some of the beats I got.

      Hey Barlin63

Good luck with all your goals. Its awesome about your cashes in those freeroll tournies. Keep using our hand evaluation forums because you get almost instant responses because our coaches are so on to it and also because it keeps your blog from becoming this massive wall of text from your past hands. All the best with everything.

      Regards,
      Luke

Since last week I needed to change my game plan. After I watched the video of Subar about MSS I decided to adopt to that strategy. At first I played well and strictly according to the charts. This went well and I even showed some profit. However at the site where I play the opponents are very tight and almost never play back. So it is extremely hard to get some action and once you get some your not always in the most favorable position. I cannot switch sites now because I want to ladder up to silver and I am only 20 point away form that goal.

Even paying MSS I am 2 dollars down over all :-(. But hey I will keep trying to give it a fair change. Please find also some pictures of my top hands out of the session I played today:

How the aces play. Lost hand was ai pre flop.

Kings. Both ai pre flop and beat by a set (88,99)

AKo played better than the above: But still not much action:

And if the big hands don't make money I need loosen up or accept the short term losses. As soon as I got the silver status I will switch sites.

Okay. It is 2 weeks ago since my last post so here an update. I have watched several videos and coaching sessions about MSS and post flop play and I must say that it is paying of. After I switched from BSS to MSS on 8 April I still lost a few BI but when I changed my post flop play I won $13.50. My post flop play is more tight and I don't loose big pots due to marginal calls anymore.

From now I will continue this strategy and try to adapt more to other player statistics. But I will still keep the post flop play tight.

Please find the April chart (without 30 April results). So April did not exactly bring what I hoped for but at least I have improved my play. Let's see if I can continue this in May.

Although I had only time to play 4 session I closed all of them with a nice result. I still play MSS and that fits me well. i am opening my ranges a bit but still in a experimental kind of way.

      looking back to my goals:
Achieve the gold stats (eventually I will buy the points if I am not able to collect 500 points a month)
This is not going to work on the low limits and the sites I am connected with. (please PS help me out with a 3 month gold subscription :-)

Play at least 5 days a week for 2 hours
      Check.

Increase the number of hands played (more tables or rush) to >750 per session
6 tables, +/- 600 hands a sessions so need to step up.

Study at least one hour a day (watch movies, read books and analyze games previous day
      Check

Post at least 2 hands per session (so at least 10 a week) in more detailed way as suggested by Raskolnikov
Bit less than the 2 per session.

Double my bankroll to $120 so I can move to the next level
Will move up at $80 instead of $120. I believe that MSS with 40 BI for MSS on basically the same level must be enough to make a profit. Will drop to 1NL at $60.
