I am just starting out, and the starting hand chart suggests calling from middle position, but, because UTG2 limped I decided to raise.

Hand converted with online PokerStrategy.com hand converter:

      Play hand

      $0.01/$0.02 No-Limit Hold'em (9 handed)

      Known players:
      BU:
      $1.12
      SB:
      $2.49
      BB:
      $2.00
      UTG1:
      $0.68
      UTG2:
      $1.63
      MP1:
      $2.71
      MP2:
      $6.17
      MP3 (Hero):
      $2.27
      CO:
      $2.53

      Preflop: Hero is MP3 with 9, 9.
UTG1 folds, UTG2 calls $0.02, 2 folds, Hero raises to $0.08, 5 folds, 4 folds, 3 folds, 2 folds, UTG2 folds, Hero gets uncalled bet back.

      Final Pot: $0.05.

      Hi Rthai,

Preflop: I think that you have done the correct play to try and isolate the limper.

Even though the starting hand chart advises you to limp behind you can also raise (a more advanced play).

I'd also like to take a moment to welcome you to the game and the forums.

When you leave a reply, don't forget to hit the "Advise judge to take another look button"

      Best of luck

      Bogdan
