      PokerStars - $0.05 NL (6 max) ZOOM - Holdem - 6 players

      Opponent unknown

      Hero (BTN): $5.19
      SB: $6.70
      BB: $5.00
      UTG: $1.56
      MP: $5.22
      CO: $5.21

SB posts SB $0.02, BB posts BB $0.05

      Pre Flop: ($0.07) Hero has T:diamond: 9:diamond:

fold, fold, CO raises to $0.15, Hero calls $0.15, fold, BB calls $0.10

      Flop: ($0.47, 3 players) Q:club: A:diamond: K:club:
BB checks, CO checks, Hero bets $0.27, BB calls $0.27, fold

      Turn: ($1.01, 2 players) 7:diamond:
BB checks, Hero bets $0.50, BB calls $0.50

On the preflop I'm in position and no aggressive squeezers behind me (at least I don't know about them), hand has a very good playability so I opt to call.
On the flop I bet as everyone shows weakness.
On the turn I bet as I can force other draws and weak pairs to fold.
But after he calls what range can we give to him? I think 3rd barrel will fail here so we are to give up if any bet occurs.

      Hi,

He likely has there Ax or sometimes flushdraw/KQ.
Since you usually don´t have enough fold equity I would check back turn or fi I decide to bet turn I would also bet big on the river to get fold marginal Ax hands

      best regards,

      River: ($2.01, 2 players) 2:spade:
BB checks, Hero bets $1.15, BB calls $1.15

Hero shows T:diamond: 9:diamond: (High Card, Ace) (Pre 38%, Flop 18%, Turn 23%)
BB shows Q:heart: K:heart: (Two Pair, Kings and Queens) (Pre 62%, Flop 82%, Turn 77%)
      BB wins $4.13

Yes, I played it like you said, 3 barrels if I bet the turn and then I thought it was a spew on this limit. My bet on the turn was because I thought I could force him to fold these weak Ax hands and because of my increased pot equity. But on the river it's a tough spot, I can't win by not barreling but is a barrel effective here often enough to justify it?..

      Hi,

you can´t fold also AT/AJ if you bet just 1.15$. I would either make it 1.76$ or give up (overbets are also quite nice, although I doubt he is going to c/f KQ)

      best regards,

So if we bet 1.76 we need to force him to fold around 45% of his better range to make it profitable and if we bet only 1.15 he need to fold only around 33% and yes, we give him a better chance to call. Do you have some formal criteria on how to determine which one is to outweigh? You say it is 1.76 and not 1.15, and not even 1.4-1.5, how can I learn to understand the influence of critical factors in these sizings?

In my experience players would almost never fold their top pair to half bet, but they would likely fold a lot more if you overbet or bet 3/4 pot. Usually it comes with experience, but you have to understand on the board texture, if you have fold equity or not (if you usually don´t then better is just to give up)

      best regards,
