      is there anything i should have done differently, or is just one of those things

      I would have put him all-in on the flop myself.
      As played you have to call, there's nothing you can do, you just got unlucky.

      Hi Ian,
      The preflop call is ok, but on the flop, either call and bet or raise all-in on the turn, or push directly on the flop. Minraises don't really serve much purpose, and you don't really want to see a diamond on the turn, since it could kill the action (and thus you wouldn't get paid off).
