      Hey guys,

Thought i would introduce myself to you. I'm from Edinburgh in Scotland and have been playing poker for four years now. I played casually for 2 of those and managed to bink a satellite to EPT Berlin for $7.50, which got me taking the game serious. In the year or so after I had relative success in microstakes tournaments with a couple of big cashes firing me up.

I have played alot less in the past year due to life changes and have tried to get back into it in the last couple of months but have lacked the confidence and patience to back up my results, one turbo score excepted.

I lack the commitment at the moment but am looking forward to changing this and increase my presence in the poker community on sites like this.

      Thanks

      Hey jambomatty,

      Welcome to the forum!

Great to hear about your previous successes! It's also good to see you are willing to improve in the areas you're currently weaker, in your case your commitment. Recognizing the problem is already a huge step in the right direction!

How did you end up doing in the EPT? Did you manage to cash?

Hopefully we'll see you around the forum more often :)

      Kind regards,
      Tino

      Hey jambomatty,

Welcome to the forum, seems like you've been playing a bit with that GOLD status ;)

Don't be so hard on yourself, we all need a healthy split from real life and the poker life.
Maybe trying to bink another EPT ticket might get the :s_love: back?!?!?

      Regards,

      Kyle.

Thanks guys, I just think I need to get back to enjoying playing again for a start.

In the EPT I played i made it to day 2. It was a couple of years ago now and I just wish I'd had the appreciation of how to play an event like that, as looking back I can think of a couple of serious mistakes I made. But it was a great experience and I played with a few guys who I had known before such as British Pros John Kabbaj and Marc Goodwin and some who I have since seen being successful like Salim Behbahni, Fredrik Jensen and Alex Bilokur.

Looking forward to exploring the site and using all the tools available :)

      Hi jambomatty,

I just popped in to say hello, I used to live in Penicuik about 150 years ago but I found it too quiet for me.

Now, as for the committment and confidence issues, may I suggest you take advantage of this thread, it has a raft of links to psychology materials.

If you would like to know more about what is on offer, but aren't sure where or how to find it, just ask. :)

Hi there, at the moment i am visiting Edinburgh for 2 weeks and i am interested in live poker scene. I already played 2 MTTs at Genting (took 2nd and 1st :s_cool: ). I know there is gala maybury with similar MTTs. Is there anything else, cash or mtts going on?

No those are the two casinos in the city, decent cash game action at the Genting most nights, ranging from 50p/50p upwards and the MTTs are super soft. Theres a good site you can keep up to date with to let you know of anything upcoming in Edinburgh Poker with the facebook page posting regular updates of field sizes and ongoing cash games.
