      Most bets mostly aren't just either or. In this case it's both. It's almost completely for value, but a little bit for protection too.

      Preflop: looks fine

      Postflop: Protection is generally a by-product of a different reason. For example value.

      You bet for value mainly but you also protect your hand by doing so.

      If it were against a reg it would depend on the player. It would be thin value/protection then in most cases.
