      Hi all,
Started to play poker as a hobby again on a website that is full of terrible people...really most of people stats are like 40/7 and they are really loose. I thought I would dominate them but it's just not happening and i'm getting worried about my poker skills. I never been a cash player but i do want to learn (I am a successful past SNG player).

I will post here my stats over only 2k hands, where I lost 4 BI over 2k hands, I know it's not a lot but we can see a trend here and it worries me..(Also how do you guys get the patience to play for so long for peanuts.)

      Thanks for the tips.

I'm about to go broke which really never happened in my poker career unless I asked for it....I'm actually kinda trying except for the fact that I multi-task watching shows.

hey steve! really really difficult to say anything about the stats you've posted because of the sample size. only thing i can really say is that there seems to be a huuuge gap between VPIP and PFR. if you play 6max, then your VPIP/PFR should look somewhere around the 20/18 - 24/21 ballpark. if you play fullring then i guess the stats will look somewhere around 14/12 or something. ofc its gunna be different for everyone though... the reason why i'm only talking about VPIP and PFR is because they are quick to converge. so at a glance it seems like you are calling people's open raises too often. instead you should just tighten up.

anyway, don't worry about 4 buyins that is a completely normal amount to lose and it could mean anything - it really won't show a pattern. and if losing 4 BI means you are going broke then maybe you should think about your brm :D what approach to brm are you using? and if you are successful with SNGs then why not just continue playing those?

if you want to analyse things over such a small sample then imo you should just post some hands for evaluation because 2k hands wont paint a good enough picture. you should get a sample of at least 25k hands and then a pattern may emerge but even 25k hands is way too small for an accurate picture of your game.

I understand your point and I thought it might happens when I posted this thread. It is true that 2k hand is nothing but I still think it's enough to get a rough idea of what i'm doing wrong ( for example you already spotted that I might be limping/calling too much which I think I am, only reason being I feel like I can play better than the bad players on the flop, which I guess i'm wrong)

Reason why I don't play SNG is because on the website I play traffic is too low, no SNGs running. SNGs are really only running on FTP and PS, and they don't attract me as much as they used to. I had a couple of success at the casino and I feel like cash game is the way to go long term to make money and it's also quite challenging for me.

Beside, the traffic is so low on this website, it has maximum 3 tables of NL10 running at the same time, hard to get a big sample fast :)

      Thank you for your input

Limping is almost always wrong. Cold calling can definitely be profitable, but from the looks of things you are just playing fit-or-fold, where you fold to too many bets, and this is not profitable. 27% won when saw flop is way too low, and 75% fold to flop bet is much too high.

You can't just call and then fold every time you miss, otherwise people will be printing money vs you to just cbet 100%.

open adidional tables from other sites if 3 tables is too small amount. BUt as I see you dont feel confinded now about skill so I would not be in a hurry to increase table amount.
