      Hi,

      <quick introduce>
my name is Mikolaj, can call me Mike
I'm 26 this year, life in United Kingdom for 7 years now.

How did I start with poker?
well.. had a motorcycle accident 5yrs ago, after 6 weeks in hospital, came back to home. I had to keep my mind busy and started play game Governor of Poker :]
then moved to Pub Poker League and online.

I also had a brake in play for 14 months. until August last year.

I have had quite few nice moments with the game, played only once in casino 56 entrance tuney and become 3rd.
won a BeatStudio Headphones - beecame 2nd ;/ - there was LG Tv for the 1st.
BTW: sold headpohnes and bought 2nd monitor and office chair.
desk also been bougt by "poker"
Won 1$ "1K gtd" at PP gtd in november last year.

next post will be with the homework

Why do I start at beginers? - I didnt use forum, I ddnt use a HUD or other programs and feel disagventage to other players.

Question 1: What is your motivation for playing poker?

Moneywise, make some money for holidays etc.
Im working 2-3 days a week, so rest of week can work on Poker and I dont need think about quiting a job:]

Question 2: What are your weaknesses when playing poker?

no consistance with working on theory - started reading book and didnt finish,
recetly had too many other things on my head.
HUD, forum and other programs are new to me - chaos when i look at it.
also spotted that I have a little problem with quick calculations ODS and POT ODS during play - now you wll ask me how did you play till now :]

Question 3: What does it mean to play tight aggressive?

play good cards, play them strongly - with impact and at the right moment.

wait till solid, strong hands eg. BIG pairs, when got them raise to get much of it. get max value from it.
aggressive - put pressure on your opponents, eliminate/reduce number of opponents - easier play/bluff against one than 2 or 3 players later on.
think where you are; the position = information.

Hand converted with online PokerStrategy.com hand converter:

      Play hand

      $0.02/$0.04 Fixed-Limit Hold'em (5 handed)

Preflop: Hero is BU with K, K.

      Final Pot: 37.5 BB.
      Results follow:

      Hero shows a pair of kings(K K).
SB shows high card five(3 5).

Hero wins with a pair of kings(K K).

      Hey Mike

Welcome to our beginner's course. Getting used to a heads up display and participating in the forums is a great way of increasing your edge at the tables imo. Good luck with the course.

      Regards,
      Luke

      Hi Mike,

Welcome to the course. I am the coach that will help you along the way :)

Glad to see you put some good effort into your first post and I am looking forward to seeing your next homeworks.

I noticed that you posted a Limit Hold'em hand however this section is mostly for No Limit Hold'em.

I am assuming you have also played this more popular format?

      Best regards.

      Bogdan

      Hi Coach,
Sorry for not responding, had to sort out my PC station.
Got a Power supply and SSD :] - so neew system etc.

How Can I watch a Course video sesion for Lesson 1?
Is recorded somewhere? or I need wait untill it will be on Live Coaching.

Yeah.. played a bit of Limit games but I better stick to NLH

Its a lot of material even for person who knows a little - or suppose to know something about the game. Thats why I wanted to do this course, start from begining.

Should I move to Lesson 2?

      Regards

      Mike

I would recommend that you watch all the material available for each lesson.

You have finished the first assignment so you can definitely move on to the next.

      Best of luck,

      Bogdan

      Lesson 2 - homework

Question 1: What do you think you could play differently than suggested in the BSS Starting Hands Chart and why?

You can play how table (players) let you play, you may want loosen up (on tight table) and definitely you want tight up on loose table/opponents, stack sizes are also important - watch out who you raise because they "may play all in/fold strategy"

with regards to SHC range in Equilab at live lesson and question about expand range K9o or Q7s.
      K9o - higher in range
Q7s - you have a chance to catch flush but you can also get in trouble if someone has higher flush - in this case K9o is safer option.. cause you may not want play when flush draw later on, which may save you a money

Question 2: Do you have questions about your preflop play? Post your hand for evaluation.

no, not at the moment.. i reviewed some past hand history - before using SHC
and i wouldnt get into trouble if I follow it that time.

I didnt post that one on forum for evaluation, i don't remember exactly what info i had on UTG, but I called his pre flop raise all in with QQ at BTN.

      iPoker - €0.02 NL - Holdem - 8 players

      UTG (UTG): 89.5 BB
      UTG+1 (UTG+1): 28 BB
      MP (MP): 38 BB
      MP+1 (MP+1): 105.5 BB
      Hero (CO): 98 BB
      BTN (BTN): 150.5 BB
      SB (SB): 100 BB
      BB (BB): 40 BB

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

      Dealt to Hero:

UTG raises to 89.5 BB, fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to 98 BB, fold, fold, fold

      Flop (180.5 BB, 2 players):

      Turn (180.5 BB, 2 players):

      River (180.5 BB, 2 players):

      UTG shows
      (Straight, Ace High)
      (Pre 28%, Flop 14%, Turn 9%)

      Hero shows
      (Three of a Kind, Queens)
      (Pre 72%, Flop 86%, Turn 91%)

      UTG wins 168.5 BB

      Hero wins 0 BB

      * I think I should treat UTG play same as situation with raise and re-raise in front of me - call only with KK and AA.. that would save me a little. Plus I called almost entire stack :0

      editted/added
Howerver pre flop QQ vs range TT+,AJ+ (yes with AJ included because UTG just did it) equilab says ~59%

Question 3: What is the equity of AKo against the top 5% range? 5% means 88+, AJs+, KQs, AKo.

      ~ 46%

Right.. lesson 3 is tonight so got some material to look into before live session.
As I was little behind with lesson 2 - firstly watched the live training then read articles.

Coach, i think that I rushed my homework from lesson 2 because I wannted to get it done before lesson3. I realized after video with lesson 1 that there is no deadlines for homework. If you think above is not enought just let me know.

BTW. could you spare a moment to look at this one.. I'm sure I was "blinded by holding AA" to not pay attention what is going on on the table.

I should at least put one of them on trips.. specially that after my check on flop i seen bet and raise. - which should tell me.. hey one of them thinks is good and the other one says HEY Im even better. seeing that still did what i did ;/

      Hero wins 0 BB
      UTG+2 wins 65 BB
      MP wins 188 BB

If i bet on flop (cbet) as a first to act, would it change much..? would i get ane more clear info - warning light? - kind of "I bet, and have raise and re-raise after me.."

I could and should put one of them on pocket pairs. and at flop on trips and that a least one of them wants protect the 3 of the kind from str8.

      regards

      Hi micholay

Yes, you are correct, there are no deadlines for the homeworks and I recommend you take as much time as you need.

I think that you can spend a bit more time on Question 1 and see if you can add more things.

      Re: QQ hand

Vs UTG almost full stack I think that you are safe to fold QQ there.

      Re: AA hand

      Preflop: looks fine

Postflop: What's the reason for checking the flop as the PFR? You want to bet for value/protection and if you get raised and reraised and people are not aggressive you have an easy fold.

Like this it's harder to fold.
