      Hello

I'd like advice on the preflop and flop play here.

I called preflop OOP using the Call20 rule because stacks are deep enough. And I don't mind if UTG calls, infact I think I want him in the hand for maximum value if I hit a set. Correct thinking?

On the flop I was torn between protecting my hand against draws and value maximisation. I opted for the check raise protection option because I think there's a good chance BTN has hit this flop or will at least fire off one contibet. Can you please comment on whether or not this is the best line or should I have donked or even check/called flop and bet the turn?

      Thanks!

      Hey K,

Your hand is marginal preflop and only works against calling stations. If you don't play against such players here, fold preflop since you won't extract enough value OOP vs 2 players that are solid.

It's always about value maximisation. Winning $$$ >>> winning pots so if you do think he will barrel off random hands then calling is better. My experience is that if they have air, they don't barrel and if they have a hand, they pay off anyway so the way to maximize vlaue is to raise big enough here to shove any turn.
