Preflop: Hero is SB with T A
6 folds, BTN raises to $0.30, Hero raises to $0.80, BB folds, BTN calls $0.50

      Flop: ($1.70) 8 A 9 (2 players)
Hero bets $1.10, BTN raises to $2.20, Hero folds

      Results:
      $3.90 pot ($0.18 rake)
      Final Board: 8 A 9
BTN mucked and won $3.72 ($1.82 net)
Hero mucked T A and lost (-$1.90 net)

Decided to 3bet preflop as villain has a high tendency to steal at button.

Is cbetting on this wet board a good decision?

      Hi TheKing7,

Preflop: your 3-bet this is way too small. Do you really expect folds or did you do it for value?

I would 3-bet at least 1-1.1 there if we 3-bet.

As played Bet/folding the flop is fine.

      Hi

This was a semi bluff. I did ask around for comments and they told me not to raise it up so much preflop. Seems like I am getting conflicting comments.

I have read up and it is recommended as what you say.3xraise + one Big blind for being oop.

Standard pre-flop raise is to raise 3x the raise when you are position and about 100bb deep. Don't go for 8bb - it becomes very exploitable if you 3-bet so small with bluffs and bigger with a real hand.

You can sometimes 3-bet bigger. In this case, it's a must. You both are way deeper, 132 bb effective so you can add some bb's there. When we are deeper we generally want to build up a bigger pot.

To add to what CPallo said you generally 3-bet larger OOP for additional FE but also because generally your range has more value (and thus you get more value).

I only 3-bet small in a spot where I got very light for value and want to keep him in the pot often.
