      Hi

      Pre - I raise 6BB (4BB + 1 for limper + 1 for OOP)
Flop - Pot sized bet, villain folds. I wonder what the appropriate bet size is here. Is this a value bet or a protection bet, or possibly a bit of both? I'm definitely on a bet/fold, check turn line but not quite sure the intent of this flop bet and therefore the correct sizing.

      THanks!

      Hi kiwicoach,

      Preflop: looks good

Postflop: Given the nature of the board and your bet size you most likely turned your hand into a small bluff, meaning that you aren't really getting much value.

Versus a fish you can generally vary your bet size based on the board texture and to some degree the strength of the hand. For example, if you pot bet here and you get called you are done, you can't do anything else.

But if you bet let's say 8 BB you can get called by worse and can sometimes valuebet more streets or even check call.

Now, if we had a stronger hand, versus a fish like this, and would like to value/protect we can bet 11-13 BB.

Against a reg we'd always bet the same amount (probably 10-11 BB here) regardless of the hand.
