Ok.. lets see. Give us more details about your environment like, windows version (including Service Packs), .Net version...

I don't know if you tried this before, but what this programs that are crashing have in common is the fact that they use the Microsoft .Net framework. So my first shot must be uninstall all .Net versions (using Add/Remove Programs from Control Panel) and VC++ libraries and then reinstall all of them following the steps described by each download page detail (listed on the bottom of Elephant download page). Its important be sure that you removed all installed softwares (including Elephant) to exclude some common problems.

Actually, the fact that PT work is a good point, because it shows that Postgres, in your case, is not the problem at all. And PT dont use .NET, so because of that I conclude that should be some problem on .NET installation.

BTW, don't use Windows Update to install .NET and don't install the french version neither. We need to be sure that you have the minimal needed to run Elephant.

I wish it could help, but if doesn't let us know to try another solution.

      best regards

Ok, it sounds a good start.

First of all, you don't have to worry so much about .NET framework. You can uninstall all .NET frameworks you can see on the panel. It will not break your computer, but until you reinstall it, all other programs that needs .NET framework will not run.
So, after you uninstall Elephant and all .NET items (including language pack) go to this link bellow and install this .NET framework version, and nothing else more.
      Keep the english version checked.

      http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5

The Windows installer and VC++ may not appear on the start menu... you have to check if it is installed using Add/Remove programs also. So, if you already have it installed, please remove all versions and install new versions using the following links:

      http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=9B2DA534-3E03-4391-8A4D-074B9F2BC1BF&displaylang=en

      http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=889482fc-5f56-4a38-b838-de776fd4138c

Then, install Elephant again all tell me if it work.

      Good lucky!

Don't really look like a good start; I can't uninstall the Net.framework 2.0(first error). Went to the windows website they say i have to disable the "rollback". Went to C:\Regedit.exe on the 2 locations they told me to look at. nun of them had the "disablerollback". So i guessed that it could be because Windows installer is not installed on my computer. I went to Windows, download it. And when i tried to run it. The second error message pop-up:

traduction: The Dll system user32.dll was moved to the memory. The application won't execute properly. The repositioning was done because the DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32.dll\SHELL32.dll occupied a location reserved for the Windows NT DLL system. The seller who provide the DLL must be contacted in order to have a new one.

      Now what should i do??? :( :( :(

humm.. the good news is that we found the root problem. The bad news is if the steps described in this link bellow doesnt work, I think you will have to format/reinstall windows if you want to use Elephant.

Here you have some guided steps to fix Windows Installer.. I know it could be annoying, but I recommend you try one by one.

      http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555175

      Please, ignore methods 2, 6, 8, 9 10 and 12.
And pay attention on methods 3 and 11

After that use this link bellow to try to install Windows Installer again:

      http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5a58b56f-60b6-4412-95b9-54d056d6f9f4&DisplayLang=en

      Keep me in touch!

      Good lucky!

Actually the same error message pop up when i try to install "windows installer".
The same message came too when i try to verify the registry permissions, as said on the fallowing link(method 4)----->start>run>regedt32:

      http://support.microsoft.com/?id=319624

Also in Method 2(verify the DCOM permissions), i don't find the "default properties" tab as said on step 2

Method 5: the step 4 where they ask to run Instmsiw.exe for installer 2.0 again!!! i really don't know how to do that!!!!

I think that if i find the answer to these questions, i may succeed to install Windows installer.

I also can't uninstall NET.Framework----> same message error!!!!

The last worst problem is, I don't have the Original recovery CD which came with the computer. Forget it in Switzerland

Your windows is not working anymore? You didn't play because of that, or you spend all time trying to fix windows installer?

Searching in Google for your problem I could found other users having the same problem with user32.dll reallocation memory. And some of them said that resolved using: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935448/en-us (here you can choose french version)

Another guy said that just uninstalling this update from Microsoft KB925902 (using add/remove programs) fixed that.

Tell me if it work for you.

YEAAAHHHHHHHHHH ... The DLL problem got finally solved. Actually all i had to do was to uninstall "bricopack vista inspirat 1.1". Still i couldn't delete the .net program. Then i used the link you gave me to install the .Net (2.0) on the old one. After it was done the install box told me to search for updates. I ignore it then try to install the windows installer 3.0 from the link u gave me. and it says that there is a latest version of the program. That there is no need to instal an older version. For the V++, i already have it installed on the computer since 2days. From there, i download n install Elephant, and guess what; it still won't open (1st error message). From there i said to myself, it's because i don't have the latest version of .NET.Framework. I searched for it. And this is what i found:

      http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=333325FD-AE52-4E35-B531-508D977D32A6&displaylang=en

      Now i'm downloading the full-version.
By the way when i tried to delete the .NET.Framework 2.0 for the second time (after i reinstall it), it worked. The uninstall was successful.
I'll write another post after i finish downloading the .NET. It takes time
