Hi, my name is Stefan! I’m a 22 year old student and basketball referee from Serbia.

Two years ago my friends thought me to play poker in order to have some fun while being at the seaside. We, of course, played not more than 1e buy-in, just for fun. However, I liked the game, I got pretty interested in it and started to play it more often with my friends. After a while I deposited my first $20 on pokerstars and lost everything in 3 days. I started watching some online poker videos, ‘poker after dark’ series etc, and I started learning something from that. I continued to play online and in casinos, started learning some theory and progressed a bit, but the key moment in my ‘career’ was when I first met my stakers and coaches IvicaIliev77 and Gerovit one night in a local casino where I used to play while on University. That was exactly what I wanted – someone who would teach me ‘all the angles’, and soon I realized how shallow my knowledge about poker was and how complex the game is.
In the very beginning (14. March 2013) of this coaching/staking program I was playing $1.5 9max SNG on stars, just to learn some basic moves and to get a working habit. After that I moved to $1.5 6max in order to adjust my game to this format, before I finally got to Microgaming, playing 1.10e and 2.75e 6max SNGs. It was interesting because I was earning money not just with my game, but I also had some help from the RB, what motivated me to learn harder and play even more games per day which resulted in mixing mentioned limits with 5e 6max SNG on Microgaming and having some extra money.
All of this lasted for 3,5 or 4 months, after which I was moved to Ongame network to play $3.30 and $5.50 5max SNGs and I’m still playing there. In the beginning of my Ongame experience I had a lot of problems – I had to adjust to new format and structure, different blind levels, less chips in play, and the most important – facing stronger opponents on a daily basis. They are also grinders, so I had to push myself even harder in order to beat this game. I had a negative ROI in July, especially on $5.50s, but RB helped me to stay BE. As the time passed and I worked on my game (playing 100games per day, working on my ICM and postflop game), I managed to have a positive ROI in august. I’m not satisfied yet because I know that one can be a lot better on these limits. But also I know I haven’t worked enough on my game because of my University-concerned obligations.
Just a few days ago I have made a big tough decision. I decided to neglect my studies and devote myself completely to poker. I will fail this year, but it won’t be in vain because I will become a much better poker player. Support from my family, my girlfriend and my coaches means a lot to me. These days I’ve been talking with my coaches about a very interesting project which should start in October. But, I’ll talk about that in another post. :P
All in all, I’m still not satisfied with my achievements in poker, but I am aware of the great progress I have made during the last 6 months. I would like to get in touch with players who are in a similar situation like me, as well as to get some tips from more experienced players. I am also willing to share my knowledge, opinion and experience with players who are just starting to play or think that I could somehow help them.
      That’s all for now,
Good luck at the tables and have fun! :)

Stefan welcome to poker strategy !
I know Stefan personally, been coaching him and hanging out when he is in Nis, I have words of praise for his efforts so far. He is very talented, has tons of potential and feel he can crush mid stakes if he continues to study/learn/grind and work hard.
      Look forward to October :)

Welcome to blog in here. Have you linked any account yet on pokerstrategy? Would give you access for some nice content in form of videos and hand evaluation area where solid hand judges are quaranteed to give feedback (e.g. Parodig, Kurrkabin, Lessthanthree). Live coaching are anyway free to anyone these days. At least most of them if not all.

Anyway good luck on your goals and motivation should be in nice condition as you are ready to skip one year in university for poker. Lucky confrontation in local casino to run into people who offer staking/ coaching =)

      Hello there Stefan.

I see you are a basketball referee so i am sure you watch all EURO basket matches of your team. Yesterday Serbia won against Lithuania and i think today they are big favorites vs Bosnia as well. I hope you enjoy EURO basket.

Regarding poker i have to say you are a brave guy. I am pretty sure you will be successful and i am also sure that you already know how much you will have to work in order to achieve your goals.

PokerStrategy is source of the best knowledge you can get about poker so i hope you will take advantage of everything that PokerStrategy can offer to you.

So are you going to continue with your SNG game or have you also think about cash game?

Have you checked already our ICM trainer software? You will find it on the bottom of Poker Tools section.

There is also a lot of content that cover SNGs in Strategy section. I think you already know a lot but you can still review all of your knowledge.

I already wait for your updates. And dont forget to post your trouble hands to SNG and MTT hand evaluation forum.

      Good luck

I also came back to my hometown just a few days ago after I had finished some paper work at university in order to leave it for a year. POKER OFFICE
I've been absent for a while, had some obligations but also I used this period to think and talk with my coaches about poker plans for the near future. The biggest thing is that I am MOVING TO POKER OFFICE with my coaches IvicaIliev and Gerovit, and one more fellow grinder from the stable. We found place in downtown of Nis where we will spend 8+ hours almost every day, grinding, working on the game, and what's the most important - we will be helping each other, and it's unimaginable how useful it will be for me spendig working hours with these guys. Plan is to move in between 20. September and 1. October (there are only couple of things left to be solved before moving in). I have to say that I'm very honoured to have been chosen to work with them among all the others from stable, so I will do my best to justify their choice.

      PLANS FOR THE FUTURE
Because I will stay in Nis for this project, i will definitely have more monthly expenses than I would have in my hometown living with my family, so I had to do some maths about my game. Total monthly expenses in Nis will cost me not more than 230 euros (including rent for the flat and grind office, food, monthly payment for my new PC, and some money for going out), so I will have to earn by grinding around 500e a month. It's doable if I continue to mix $3.30 and $5.50 on ONGAME with 3000 games every month and with 2% total ROI. I spoke with IvicaIliev and he said that I should expected more than that if I work and grind enough. The beginning of the basketball season is getting closer, so that will definitely increase my ROI! :D
I also made some kind of challenge - to have 2000e left on my account by the end of the march/beginning of the april.

      CURRENT SITUATION
It's not good at all!!! :D I am on an ugly swing these days, beside of relative bad variation my game is also on a lower level. For long time I haven't worked on my game constantly, I have been playing just around 60 games per day, and I have lost a lot of my energy on some other stuff, so it has been a bit difficult to get into this grind mode, but last week I've been working very seriously. Beside of session with my coach, I am working hhr review every day for warm up and cool down, I am catching notes for regs I meet at the tables and I am finding my own leaks, and playing more than 100 games a day, so I hope that progress will be noticed soon.

Just now I am going to watch second halftime of the basketball match between Serbia and Ukraine, after that I am going to work on my ICM and then to grind the rest of my games.

Good luck at the tables until the next post, when I will have some good news about my game, I hope! :)

Ohhh I wish you all success really. You are really brave. Also nice goal. 3000 games per month its a huge goal i think. Although i don't play tourney i don't have really an entire picture of how much is that.

how many tables will you play at once?

Good luck and i hope you will have very smooth relocation.

Thank you! I would like to play more per month, but i won't be able to play during the weekends because of the basketball obligations. When traffic is nice on ONGAME I play 9 to 12 tables at oncee, but most of the day I play 4-8 tables, because traffic is not that good. I was talking with my coach, and I will probably mix two networks starting from octobar. ONGAME + microgaming, ONGAME+ Ipoker or maybe ONGAME + fulltilt. Honestly, I am for the 1st solution, but chances are small because loto of grinders from our stable are on the microgaming.
      Thank you very much!

      Short review of today's grind

Maybe friday the 13th is not such a bad day! :D
Played 140 games, more 3.30 than 5.50, so I raked less than $56, but more important is that I had a preety good last session! After week of downswing and today's BE, in the last 25 games I've made a 50$ profit, so I hope that this is the end of this bad and frustrating period. I checked bubble BvsB situations as cooldown, and now I am making some plans with my friend for tonight's relaxation. :)
