At the behest of She Who Must Be Obeyed, here is my second blog.
I won't bother to point you towards my first one, the only person who read it properly was Gary (I know I didn't) and only then to see if my cursing had gotten out of hand, everybody else just laughed; bastards.

So anyway, I wasn't quite sure what to aim for initially, I finished the challenge of winning 1K last time round, hmmm...

I want to win enough to buy a funky moped [Matt suggested a mobility scooter - thanks Matt  ] to run my other quarter back and forth to work, mainly because she's getting a bit old and rusty now and I hate that she seizes up in the rain riding her bike there and back in crappy weather during winter, it cuts drastically into how much shopping she can carry.

It's painfully obvious she can't afford one on part-time money and I can't persuade her to get a second job, so there we have it..and don't even suggest that I get...

BR ~$200 on PKR starting at nl4 6max. Yes, PKR; don't laugh I'm serious.

      Rules, negotiable of course:

1.Post some of the more interesting hands,

      2. Stop playing half pissed after two bottles of wine,

      3. Ranges dammit, ranges,

      4. Move up at $300 to nl10 and nl25 at $700

      5. Update...whenever it gets interesting.

      6. If all else fails, part-ex the mrs.

So, to start this thing off here's an interesting spot I've been experimenting with:

Nobody folds bvb so it's passive, chk and see a flop which is crap. It's crap because that's how they play and my hand is too crap for words, except crap of course.
So let's try being a bit more agro and see if I can pressure villain's obviously weak range postflop instead.

Note the bet sizing on the flop, they fold to a little bet like this about once a week, so then I hit 'em hard on the turn given a nice card; easy game.

Also note that at no time did I have a clue as to villain's holding - standard micros blind versus (or is that leading) blind stuff really!

PKR, $0.02/$0.04 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players

      SB: $5.07 (126.8 bb)
      Hero (BB): $4.16 (104 bb)
      UTG: $5.69 (142.3 bb)
      MP: $3.45 (86.3 bb)
      CO: $4 (100 bb)
      BTN: $3.27 (81.8 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 2 T
4 folds, SB completes, Hero raises to $0.12, SB calls $0.08

      Flop: ($0.24) 3 5 J (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $0.08, SB calls $0.08

      Turn: ($0.40) Q (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $0.32, SB folds

It doesn't work with everybody of course, but I'm learning.

Run good and never bluff at micros! :f_confused:

[x] Following, and not just to see if your cursing gets out of control

      4. Move up at $300 to nl10 and nl25 at $700
Any reason why you want to move up to NL10 with 30BI, but then to NL25 with 28BI? Just curious.

Also +1 for the mobility scooter.

Not really, just rounding the numbers for now. I actually may move up a little later, I'll just see how I feel about my game by then first.
      Thanks for not swearing.

Well, day one over and my chips went up and down like a porn stars arse yet again, but it was at least a funny session.

I changed my mind, remember to bluff at the micros. This guy seems to have adopted Katie Dozier's favourite 'Non-All-in All-in' tactic.

      BTN: $4.83 (120.8 bb)
      Hero (SB): $7.69 (192.3 bb)
      BB: $4 (100 bb)
      UTG: $1.68 (42 bb)
      MP: $7.54 (188.5 bb)
      CO: $4.50 (112.5 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with A 8
2 folds, CO raises to $0.12, BTN folds, Hero raises to $0.34, BB folds, CO calls $0.22

      Flop: ($0.72) A 8 2 (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets $0.36, Hero raises to $1.08, CO raises to $3.96, Hero raises to $7.35, CO calls $0.20 and is all-in

      Turn: ($9.04) 8 (2 players, 1 is all-in) :s_cool:
      River: ($9.04) J (2 players, 1 is all-in)

      Results:
      $9.04 pot ($0.90 rake)
      Final Board: A 8 2 8 J
      Hero showed A 8 and won $8.14 ($3.64 net)
CO showed J T and lost (-$4.50 net)

Nh sir and well done for tank/calling your last 20c.

So anyway, I'll post a giraffe for this time but only because I got Hm2 to work for a change. Yay!

Onwards and upwards it is then. Run good.

      Hey gadget

definitely get the moped. I've been toying around with getting one but I hear you can't do wheelies in them? Good luck in getting out of the damn micros i've been trying to leave the micros behind me for some time with no dice

So here's the only interesting hands that came up form this mornings session. It would be nice if HM actually recorded all the hands, instead of picking and choosing; it probably like SCs.

Anyway, happy enough with this one, villain is a pilchard.

      MP: $4 (100 bb)
      CO: $6.72 (168 bb)
      BTN: $9.73 (243.3 bb)
      SB: $5.82 (145.5 bb)
      BB: $5.25 (131.3 bb)
      Hero (UTG): $4.80 (120 bb)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with K K
Hero raises to $0.12, MP folds, CO calls $0.12, 3 folds

      Flop: ($0.30) Q 8 K (2 players)
Hero bets $0.20, CO calls $0.20

      Turn: ($0.70) T (2 players)
Hero bets $0.35, CO raises to $0.70, Hero calls $0.35

      River: ($2.10) J (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets $1.40, Hero folds

      .......................................................................................................................

This one I wasn't sure about on the flop, the main villain playing 2.5 3bet but no real sample, the other one is a mackerel, hence my call pre.
I noted bet sizing and his instabet flop, hesitant turn, tank river.

      BTN: $4 (100 bb)
      SB: $5.25 (131.3 bb)
      BB: $4 (100 bb)
      CO: $3.33 (83.3 bb)
      Hero (): $4.68 (117 bb)

Preflop: Hero is with Q Q
CO folds, Hero raises to $0.12, SB raises to $0.36, BB calls $0.32, Hero calls $0.24

      Flop: ($1.08) 3 J T (3 players)
SB bets $0.72, BB calls $0.72, Hero folds

      Turn: ($2.52) T (2 players)
SB checks, BB bets $0.60, SB calls $0.60

      River: ($3.72) 4 (2 players)
SB checks, BB bets $2.32 and is all-in, SB calls $2.32

I just couldn't think what turns I want to see, unsure of where I was at I got out. Bit weak imo.

Anyway, I can't remember if I lost or not in the sess, so it couldn't have been a disaster!

Hopefully the mrs will give me money to invest in JB, Manu and TT's e-book at the end of the month. Nice people, cheap book, we like cheap (in a monetary sense of course - well, women as well really if I'm honest).

So, run good and please, no wheelies on mopeds, have some self respect for goodness sake! :O

      Following Mal!

Good luck! And I'm sure you'll make it out of the micro's.

The KK hand: Why didn't you 3b ott? I can still see worse hands that will pay you off. The only hands that beat you are 9J and AJ, all the rest of hands you beat. Surely if you get it in you'll run into some 9J and AJ hands but also 88, QQ, TT, KQ, QT, (JT), maybe some AQ, AK depends on what kind of player though.

It's the dreaded minraise from a passive herring Ras, it just seemed to me I was in hero fold mode today.
I was even more pleased with my fold when he showed me 7s. :f_mad:

First hand villain had AsJs, which to be fair was just about the best hand I could beat and the sardine had 9To, so fold not too bad given the 'blackjack' flop, as pleno1 calls them.

Yeah I guess I haven't played nl4 in to long. I'm not folding to these minraises anymore. I've seen ppl doing it with  hands as well. I just go with the hand and take a note.

Well I had a really nice sweat session last night with Vorpal and thazar. I played very nearly very well for me, but not quite. I also had fun, I can't remember the last time I laughed during a session; maybe the guy tilt-shoving 52s into me preflop after my umpteenth steal attempt had something to do with it. :f_eek:

Note to self, must try to click the damned clock timer thing instead of show cards, that way I don't time out with queens.
I'm learning to be much more aggressive now but still need to pick my spots better, or as Vorpal says, put some antiseptic cream on them, one or the other. He's such a wag. :P

Afterwards I watched thazar doing it like it really should be done, which was great but kinda sucked in a way, when I think I've played so well and then see how far I have to go. It's also motivating me to work hard so it's all good stuff.
I do believe I'm actually beginning to enjoy playing again.

Look mum, no swearing yet, my bein' a good boy.

      Run good, people.

Hi there, thanks for dropping by. :)

Well I'm being conservative because I'm broke, but also I like to be safe when I play, BR-wise. I like to make some moves it seems a lot of micro players don't and they don't always work out. Therefore, rather than play 16/12 which was my norm before this idea took off, I play with a more conservative BR which covers me for the usual crap and I don't start getting nervous about it.
I'm not good, I'm just a tiny bit better than most of the villains I play. That isn't too difficult when I can count the regs on one hand that I think I have to be wary of.

So, I missed the zimmers and I missed my sweat session, where we were going to talk about ranges. I tend to play a lot on reads/tendencies/odds, that sort of thing. Physical ranges tend to be secondary, it worked for quite a while but it's time to move on and up now.. I really need to get ranges down pat. This is difficult when you're asleep in the bath! to me and apologies to all who turned up.

So this weeks task is ranges of regs on pkr. I feel an equilab coming on. You have been warned, Big Brother is watching you!

      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
People have asked me if I think I make a profit with this type of play at these limits. The public have voted, you decide!

It's about reads and tendencies again is all:

      BTN: $4 (100 bb)
      Hero (SB): $4 (100 bb)
      BB: $1.67 (41.8 bb)
      UTG: $2.57 (64.3 bb)
      MP: $4.90 (122.5 bb)
      CO: $2 (50 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with A K
CO posts BB OOP, UTG folds, MP calls $0.04, CO checks, BTN raises to $0.16, Hero raises to $0.52, BB calls $0.48, 2 folds, BTN calls $0.36

      Flop: ($1.64) 3 2 5 (3 players)
Hero checks, BB bets $0.20, BTN folds, Hero raises to $1.73, BB calls $0.95 and is all-in

      Turn: ($3.94) 9 (2 players, 1 is all-in)
      River: ($3.94) 8 (2 players, 1 is all-in)

      Results:
      $3.94 pot ($0.39 rake)
      Final Board: 3 2 5 9 8
BTN mucked and lost (-$0.52 net)
      Hero showed A K and won $3.55 ($1.88 net)
BB showed K Q and lost (-$1.67 net)

      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't get shown on this site when they muck so I don't know if I left money on the table or not.
Villain's bet size isn't a clue, he'll bet pot with anything and raises to 9bb pre 1st in anyway. When he doesn't bet the flop (strangely) I gave him a very weak range, maybe an air-ball.

Anyhooo, I played it like an ace, what else could I do, ship it? I rarely slowplay here, they've stopped believing me these days - thanks for that one thazar! :D :D

      BB: $3.51 (87.7 bb)
      MP: $1.20 (30 bb)
      Hero (CO): $4.38 (109.5 bb)
      BTN: $1.96 (49 bb)
      SB: $1.51 (37.8 bb)

Preflop: Hero is CO with J J
MP folds, Hero raises to $0.12, 2 folds, BB calls $0.08

      Flop: ($0.26) J A J (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $0.12, BB calls $0.12

      Turn: ($0.50) 5 (2 players)
      BB checks, Hero checks

      River: ($0.50) 8 (2 players)
BB bets $0.50, Hero raises to $1.50, BB calls $1

      Results:
      $3.50 pot ($0.35 rake)
      Final Board: J A J 5 8
BB mucked and lost (-$1.74 net)
      Hero showed J J and won $3.15 ($1.41 net)

      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just to point out before I go that I have much to put right, here're two hands that were played like crap from last session.

WTF is that call all about! :f_eek:

      SB: $3.96 (99 bb)
      Hero (BB): $4 (100 bb)
      UTG: $2.43 (60.8 bb)
      MP: $0.99 (24.8 bb)
      CO: $4 (100 bb)
      BTN: $3.05 (76.3 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with A 5
UTG calls $0.04, MP raises to $0.08, CO calls $0.08, BTN folds, SB calls $0.06, Hero calls $0.04, UTG calls $0.04

      Flop: ($0.40) 6 A 2 (5 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, UTG checks, MP bets $0.20, 2 folds, Hero calls $0.20, UTG folds

      Turn: ($0.80) 6 (2 players)
      Hero checks, MP checks

      River: ($0.80) 9 (2 players)
Hero checks, MP bets $0.10, Hero calls $0.10

      Results:
      $1 pot ($0.10 rake)
      Final Board: 6 A 2 6 9
Hero mucked A 5 and lost (-$0.38 net)
      MP showed A K and won $0.90 ($0.52 net)

Ask me why I bet the river here v an out and out station and I couldn't tell you.

      BB: $5.51 (137.8 bb)
      UTG: $1.20 (30 bb)
      MP: $6.10 (152.5 bb)
      Hero (CO): $4.10 (102.5 bb)
      BTN: $1.86 (46.5 bb)
      SB: $2.24 (56 bb)

Preflop: Hero is CO with J A
UTG calls $0.04, MP folds, Hero raises to $0.12, BTN folds, SB calls $0.10, BB folds, UTG calls $0.08

      Flop: ($0.40) 6 T T (3 players)
SB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets $0.18, SB calls $0.18, UTG folds

      Turn: ($0.76) 8 (2 players)
      SB checks, Hero checks

      River: ($0.76) 2 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $0.24, SB calls $0.24

      Results:
      $1.24 pot ($0.12 rake)
      Final Board: 6 T T 8 2
Hero showed J A and lost (-$0.54 net)
      SB showed A Q and won $1.12 ($0.58 net)

If my sweat partners were there I would have sore ears now. Pilchard! :f_mad:

Wow, a stalker, how cool is that! :s_cool:

Well anyway, not a lot to report pokerwise this time round. There was a promo at the weekend and you had to see how many speed DoNs you could cash in a row. I think I managed 8 but HM didn't like them so I'm not sure; neither am I sure about the $12 profit I made, but near enough. If 8 is in the top ten cashers list I get in a freeroll DoN for 1K. I didn't play again, the players are far too slow.

So, I did some range study and found I was actually pretty crap at it, which was comforting. Doing some today after I finish my work, then try it out on one table nl4 6 max as per thazar's recommendation.

I'm also trying to add in some exploitative folds using villain's ranges and betting patterns.
Here's my first attempt from today. To be fair I did take the clock a bit...

      SB: $5.95 (148.8 bb)
      BB: $3.86 (96.5 bb)
      Hero (UTG): $4.07 (101.8 bb)
      MP: $4 (100 bb)
      CO: $7.20 (180 bb)
      BTN: $2.04 (51 bb)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with A A
Hero raises to $0.12, 2 folds, BTN calls $0.12, SB calls $0.10, BB folds

      Flop: ($0.40) T K T (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $0.20, BTN calls $0.20, SB calls $0.20

      Turn: ($1) 5 (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, BTN bets $0.66, SB folds, Hero calls $0.66

      River: ($2.32) 2 (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $1.06 and is all-in, Hero calls $1.06

      Results:
      $4.44 pot ($0.44 rake)
      Final Board: T K T 5 2
Hero showed A A and lost (-$2.04 net)
      BTN showed T J and won $4 ($1.96 net)

What's really really annoying is I told myself I would fold to a bet on the turn and to the shove on the river.
Nice exploitative fold Mal, well played...but I haz aces! :f_mad:

      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This one is more like it. It's very tempting to call these but no need. To those who say they'll see you do that too often and take advantage of it though, I say llooooll.

      CO: $4.20 (105 bb)
      Hero (BTN): $7.26 (181.5 bb)
      SB: $3.95 (98.8 bb)
      BB: $1.21 (30.3 bb)
      MP: $4.24 (106 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with K 9
2 folds, Hero raises to $0.10, SB folds, BB calls $0.06

      Flop: ($0.22) 7 6 3 (2 players)
      BB checks, Hero checks

      Turn: ($0.22) J (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $0.14, BB calls $0.14

      River: ($0.50) 3 (2 players)
BB bets $0.97 and is all-in, Hero folds

      Results:
      $0.50 pot ($0.05 rake)
      Final Board: 7 6 3 J 3
Hero mucked K 9 and lost (-$0.24 net)
BB mucked and won $0.45 ($0.21 net)

Anyway, run good people and make sure it's fun and try watching this without smiling:

Oh boy fazer is gonna fry me for this probably

      I don't like hand #1

Flop: I think the bet is way to small. There is still a lot of value from draws and Kx hands, probably even worse PP's.

Turn: I don't see any reason to check here.

River: well I'd bet turn and river myself on this runout. Just bet bigger flop and go bet/bet/bet. He's probably bad enough to call down with worse.

Yes, I should have pointed out villain has virtually no aggression postflop, like 10/9/20 for three streets. My bad and still I fold the turn.

Well I've had a really busy time up to now last few days and I really should have had a day off from playing, but it's tough when you're sitting at home and all there is on telly is cooking and home improvement/buy a home for 20 zillion dollars in the sunny country of [insert favourite sunny country here] programmes, both of which are pointless.
The first because cooking sucks socks [yes it does!] and the second because nobody ever buys a damned house on those programmes anyway. Ooooo and here is our mystery house, I wonder if I can tempt our multi-millionnaire couple into...bollox - and don't tell me millionnaire is wrong either coz I haz dixtionry and splchekr.

Sigh, can ya tell I lost yet?

I had 'one of those days' where it didn't really matter if I had trip aces, the trips gave them the straight, blah blah blah. What irked me most was my 'don't you fkn dare call that' button was Mal-functioning.
Basically, I still need to do more work on my folding, at least in trickier spots where I could possibly have the best hand but most likely haven't, know what I mean?

~Anyway~ back to the grind tomorrow but I'm off to do a session review with someone who knows how to fold.

Run good everybody and oh ye, for today's weirdness, don't forget to breathe!
