Questions about Moneybookers

Im an american that relocated to canada so i could play on pokerstars. I created a canadian bank account and have an address and got my account verified by pokerstars.

I also created a moneybookers account.

Okay so i just signed up for a moneybooker account. It shows my limit as $1329.70.

It allows you to verify your debit/credit card and that will increase your limit by
      + 6648.50 USD.

      1. I have a BMO debit card. When it ask what is your purpose i check this?

I will use the money deposited with this credit/debit card for GAMING purposes [?]

      2. I added my bank of montreal account and that would also increase the moneybooker limit by same amount as debit/credit card. That takes 2-3 days based on your experience?

      3. For the address verification. Can you guys tell me how long it took you to receive the letter? The thing is i will be moving to another apartment on october 1st so if i verify my address now, the letter should get to my mailbox before then? Of course i will have to update my new address when i move to the other apartment. I read they say it takes 2-5 days but i read online people never received it. Would it be problem if i dont receive it by october 1st and then i tell them i have a new address?

      4. I have money in my canadian USD account. How do i get this money to my skrill account most cost effective? I thought it was like neteller where you do a bank transfer and the money goes from the canadian usd bank account to skrill and then you deposit it into pokerstars. But from what i read it doesn't work like that... but instead you need to do a wire or debit/credit card deposit from bank to skrill? So theres a fee to that? I read someone mention that costs $30 to do a wire from canadian usd bank account to skrill. If thats the case, why dont you just wire it from bank to pokerstars? Would that cost more?

      5. So skrill charges money whenever you transfer money from canadian bank account to skrill or vice versa? Neteller never charged anything when i did bank transfers from bank of america to neteller and vice versa. I hear about how great moneybooker is but why are they charging fees like that?

      6. If i want to transfer 5000 from my canadian usd account to moneybooker account, i have to pay 30-40 dollars? But if i want to withdraw that amount to my canadian bank account, how much is the fee? And is debit/credit card the worst option since the fee is always a percentage?

I only veryfied my bank account and MB uplift my limit to $25k (they said 3k at their webpage).

      6. I am from 3rd country and the fee is only about $5. I guess Canada wouldn't worse. But I think the conversion rate isn't too good

I have never been charged anything by Moneybookers for depositing into Moneybookers or depositing into a Poker room from Moneybookers.

I know there is a withdrawal charge from Moneybookers to bank account of $1.80 per transaction.

There may also be charges resulting from currency conversion but these charges will be closer to market rate than allowing poker rooms to do currency conversion for you.

As I have yet to withdraw to my bank from Moneybookers, they have NOT charged me a single cent.

I'm in Australia by the way so I don't know if that makes a difference.

I received my address verification letter in around a week.

From verifying my address and my bank account, they lifted my limits to around 40k.

Once you achieve VIP status (more than 2k in transactions), your limit will be raised further.

Apparently canadians can't do direct bank transfers. They must use the SWIFT system.

      Hey pauly01

      1. Tick the box that says that yes because poker comes under GAMING as do other online casinos and sportbetting sites.]

      2. 2-3 days sounds like a reasonable amount of time. I remember verifying my account it was around a similar timeframe.

      3. I'd imagine that generally it takes around 5 or so days for you to receive it so you should get it before you move house. With this one it might be a good idea to contact their support just to clarify this though.

      4. Skrill do add a fee when currency conversion is involved which is usually around 2.99% and 4.99%. Unfortunately I can't speak on this matter with much conviction but how about just a direct deposit from your bank if you're not prepared to pay the fee for the wire transfer and don't have access to a debit card.

Will try to get answers on your remaining questions in a moment

      5. As Lazza61 points out you might have to use the SWIFT system because it looks as if bank transfers aren't supported based on the information from their website.

      6. Again judging by the information on their website provided in the link that Lazza61 provided there is a percentage fee for transfers of 1% but note that this fee does not exceed €10 and the withdrawal fee appears to be a flat rate e.g €4.04 for SWIFT withdrawal.

@Lazza61 thanks a lot for your help

      Regards,
      Luke

      Glad to help Luke. =)

With #6, I have been all through my skrill transactions and I can't find any charges for transfer fees.

All my deposits tally up to my balances.

this is what confuses me. On moneybooker it show option to do bank transfer and says 3-5 day and it says free.

someone on another forum said a transfer from canadian bank account to moneybooker requires a wire and it cost him 25 dollars. So does it cost money to get money from canadian us bank account to moneybooker or not?

Is bank transfer different from wire? In the usa, its not the same thing. But here in canada, i have no idea b/c some ppl say this, but moneybooker webpage say no charge?

      Hey pauly01

I suggest contacting their support to find out if you will incur a fee or not. I know that when a foreign exchange is done there is a fee. Personally i was charged $15 because I was dealing with the euro (I'm from NZ). My bank said that if I had have requested the poker room to convert to NZD before transfering to my account then I wouldn't have been charged a fee, perhaps this is relevant to you?

From what I understand a wire is quicker than a bank transfer which is free but there is a fee for the promptness.

At any rate I suggest contacting Moneybookers' support to clarify this information.

      Regards,
      Luke

I will be transferring bank of montreal usd to moneybooker usd. There won't be any currency exchange fees that i know of. But i want to know if it has to be a bank wire or not.

What is email for moneybooker to ask them these questions?

As long as you do all your transactions in USD you won't incur and currency conversion charges. This includes transfers to and from gaming rooms. So as long as your gaming room account is in USD, you won't incur currency conversion charges.

You will have to pay a 1% charge (capped at 10 euros) to upload money by bank transfer. This is a new charge. I received an email from skrill earlier today saying there is going to be changes to their fee structure and I have 60 days notice of this. They also referred me to the link I posted earlier, which is why I was a little confused.

I have 60 days before those new fees hit me and if you are an existing member then maybe you have the same leeway.

When I do a bank transfer, I don't have to use SWIFT codes. I'm assuming that is because Skrill have an Australian bank account. Maybe Skrill don't have a Canadian bank account and you have to transfer offshore (hence the need for SWIFT codes).

You may have to check with your bank for the appropriate SWIFT code.

okay so i logged into my bmo account and i think my bank account is verified because it doesn't show still pending.

However, my limit is only 1335.90. I think a few days ago it was 1329 or so.

I would like to verify my debit card as that is another option to increase the limit. My problem is when i do this, it ask for an expiration date for my bmo debit card. My bmo debit card doesn't have one... So how can i verify it?

Also i can transfer the money from my bmo right now to the moneybooker now right? Someone suggested i just do a 100 dollar transfer to see how much fees im charged first and then transfer the rest? I have about 4500 dollars in my bmo usd account at the moment.

Can i do these transfer from bmo usd account online now or would i need to go to bmo to initiate this in person?

Also would you suggest my first deposit should be a small amount to test it out or just deposit 1k or so? The reason is b/c i dont want to deposit 100 dollars to test it out and then have a 20 dollar transfer fee on it so i rather transfer more at once.

Also is it true after your first deposit, then your limits will get increased immediately? I saw a popup that said deposit 5 euros or more and once you do that, your limits will get increased immediately. But then again i use usd.

How long does it take for the money to get to my moneybooker account when i do the transfer from bmo? is it 3-5 days as stated? Is it 3-5 business days?

      Thank you.

      Hey Pauly.

During the bank account verification, Skrill will send a few cents to your bank account. You need to make a note of the amount and the transaction number and go back to the webpage where you requested verification and enter those numbers.

Is your BMO debit card like a credit card. It has to be underwritten by a major credit provider (generally Visa or MasterCard). If your BMO card is your bank account or ATM card then it is not the card they are looking for.

As you can see from this screenshot, I have verified my address and bank account and both show up clearly on the main login page.

If your bank account is verified, most of the details will be auto entered (you may have to call bank for the appropriate SWIFT code)

You have to initiate the transfer through your bank (online or in person). If you have Internet banking enabled, then all you need to do is:

      1) log into Skrill
      2) click on Uploads (which gives you the screen above). Your screen may show differently as you may have to fill in certain information relative to Canada. (also note that bank transfers are still free. New charges haven't started yet)

The reference number must be included in your deposit. This is a unique number that links to your account.

3)Go to your online banking with the BSB and account number of Skrill as well as your reference number. All these will differ from my page.

      4) Process your deposit through online banking and wait 2-3 days. All my deposits to skrill have taken 2 business days except the last one which took 3. They should also notify you by email when the money gets there.

As for limits being increased, I'm not sure, You are limited in what you can do until after the verifications are finished. I think from memory you must carry out at least one verification or your account is frozen for 30 days before you can use it and you are still limited. As far as I can remember they bumped my limits as soon as I verified (to about 12k when I verified my address and to 25k when I verified bank account).

the limit acctually euro 1000. So it depend on exchange rate.

Also would you suggest my first deposit should be a small amount to test it out or just deposit 1k or so? The reason is b/c i dont want to deposit 100 dollars to test it out and then have a 20 dollar transfer fee on it so i rather transfer more at once.

I heard that people from euro just transfer money and their account immediately verified. But it depend on where you are and your bank. I'm from 3rd country and when I tried to send $500 the webpage refused. It ask to send less than $15 first to be able to verify my account. Then afterward I can transfer $$$.
Remember that your bank status (name, address, etc) have to matching with your skrill status. You can get some trouble if it's not.

      Hope this help

Im checking my bmo bank account now online banking. I do not see any deposit at all of a few cents to my USD nor my CAD BMO account... What does that mean then? The thing is i think its verified b/c it doesn't have that word verification pending...

MY bmo card... it has no expiration date. Its a bank card to withdraw money from atm so that means that card is no good to verify and increase my limits? It the blue bmo account card and the back of it has cirrcue and masestro and interac in the back of the card. I dont see visa nor mastercard....

okay i think i made a mistake about my bmo account being verified. When i click on

      Cards and Bank Accounts

It shows my bmo account number and status is unverified for my primary bank. Is there a reason its taking this long? I wrote down this information last thursday and its already wednesday. Shouldn't it take 2-3 days max for it to be verified? I dont see any deposit at all in my bmo bank account that is 0 cents to 1 dollar. Could it because its not shown on online banking and i need to go to the actual bank too see what the figure is?

      Hey Pauly,

I wouldn't panic just yet. From memory it was between 1-2 weeks to get my dummy deposit. So if you haven't received it by the beginning of next week, I would try to resend the request or fill the form out on their help page.

      https://help.skrill.com/pkb_sc_ContactUs?l=en_GB

Also I found a thread by Vorpal, one of PS.com's moderators. He appears to be based in Canada but has a German bank account.

He had some trouble getting his account set up, but eventually got there.

Canadians: How do you get money into your Skrill account?

I would suggest contacting VorpalF2F through the com tool.
