      Hi folks,

I'm not a fin so I have to write in English, I hope you guys don't mind.

My question is pretty simple: Is online poker in Finland legal? Do you have to pay taxes?

      Thank you!

      Hi raek123!

Simple answer to simple question: online poker is legal in Finland. That means it is ok to play, but it is not allowed to advertise or organize online poker games (real money) in Finland.

Taxation is a different thing then. If you play on a poker site that operates withing the European Economic Area (almost the same as EU, but some additional countries there too), you do not have to pay taxes of your winnings. If the site you play is outside of that area (some good examples are Pokerstars and Full Tilt Poker) you are obliged to pay taxes of your yearly profit.

      Hope this helped you out,

"European" and that way tax-free sites for finnish players are for example all that are operating in Gibraltar (Mansion, Party, Ladbrokes, 888/Pacific...) or Malta (Unibet...).

depends 100% from the skin and where it's registered. Some ongame skins are registered and located in European Economic area (tax free) and some aren't (you should pay taxes). Same with iPoker afaik

This website is owned and operated by ONGAMESKIN and powered by OnGame Network Ltd. All transactions will be billed by OnGame Network Ltd., Europort, Suite 611, Gibraltar. On the Player’s bank statement, the transactions will be billed as either IFUND-POKERNETWORK or AquaPay London.

So this should be fine, right?

There are some skins in both Ongame and iPoker networks that are not operating from European tax free area for finnish players. The company taking care of money transactions is not meaning anything in that matter. The decision is based on the location where the gaming company is registered.

If you read that kind of line from a gaming website you can not be sure if that site is tax free or not. They say things about the website but not about the company itself.

Verotettava pokeritulo on ansiotuloa.

Hi guys i have another question if u dont mind (my finnish is not yet good concerning poker).

I play on fulltilt.com and i understood that i have to play taxes. What if i transfer my money on Bet365 (regidtred in Gibraltar) and from there to my account. Do i still have to pay taxes?

      And what about moneybookers?

      Thanks guys.

u can answer in english or finnish (reading finnish is easier than writing ;) )
