*Buy my first "big" bike - Check

My name is Calum, i'm 22 and from Glasgow in Scotland.

I like a brief introduction haha!
Having used this site a lot over the last year i have decided i need to start planning for 2014 to make it my best year ever.
The first part of this plan was to buy myself a bike for the summer as i do a lot of traveling around the highlands in Scotland although whether it will be nice enough weather still remains a mystery.
The second part is to try and make me some $$$'s in the form of poker.
I had been a losing player for the last 3-4 year's until 2 months ago when i started focusing and studying the game seriously. My biggest problem was bankroll management and using most of my roll at once, just trying to get lucky which is not the best way to do thing.

As of today i will be recording my progress to try and reach NL10 zoom come the 1st January 2014! :D

My all time NL5 zoom Graph:

      Not great to be honest.

      December goals :
Reach 10k yearly VPP's on Pokerstars to get $50 bonus
        Reach $250 bankroll
Study poker for 5 hours per week

      Current Bankroll :
      $107.76

      VPP's left to clear:
      2443

To clear the VPPs i'm going to have to play 62480 hands at NL5 zoom which is going to be a challenge in itself as i work 60 hours a week and go to the gym most days after work, but I CAN DO IT !

I was extremely hungover and not feeling to great today so i have only had one session which went pretty well and was a little boost to the bankroll :D

Good luck with your challenge! :) If you put in enough effort you can pull it through and climb the stakes. I wouldn't suggest to play poker when you are feeling too tired (i.e. hangover) as it may lead to some bad play due to lack of focus. :)

P.S. I live in Hamilton (But not Scottish obv. :D Latvian lad).

      Thank Richard :)
Yeah I believe I can beat nl5 if I focus a bit better and hopefully it won't take too long to get up the stakes.

Well done with your November challenge!
Is it just NL10 you play now?

Yeah, just NL10. Soon gonna be moving to NL25. :) All I can suggest is to reflect, study the game as much as you play and then you gonna receive the benefits.

Does anyone know how to filter hands in HM2 to only show ones where i made a bet or call on the river?

I want to have a look at value betting and making light calls when i check deliberately to get the villain to bet.
There was a couple tonight where i checked with the intention of calling any bet and then talked myself out of it.

Look in the filter - Advanced filters or something, or there is one where you can filter actions street by street. Can't exactly remember how they were called. In the Filter dialog box one of the last ones in the left handed list.

So today i played well for 45 mins (800 hands) and then began to play bad. I think it was a combination of bad play and running bad. In the end nothing was working and at least i stopped with a small profit before i tilted too bad.

      Here is the graph :

This hand really annoyed me. I don't like my call even in position and i don't like my jam on the turn because i'm never getting called by worse than sets or AKd/AQd. Player was a completely unknown.

Hand converted with online PokerStrategy.com hand converter:

I liked this hand, got a little extra value at the end.

Villian's line just made no sense so the river min bet was to induce.

Today i didn't feel in a good mood to play poker but i was making good decisions. Ran in to the nuts every time today and hit my stoploss of 3 BI's :(

Just weeks ago i would have kept going or jumped to NL10 to try and recoop my losses but i know thats a very bad way to play.
The whole part of this blog is to keep me disciplined whether its good or bad days.

So me posting on here is the positive for the day :D

      Bankroll :
      $117.92

      VPP's left to clear :
      2314

I really don't think i'm going to reach my VPP goal by 31st Dec but $50 is so much in comparison to my bankroll i really will be trying hard to reach it. Hopefully i will have a long positive grind on Sunday.

I'm going to take tomorrow off and go to a Kickboxing class after work and get rid of some of this anger.

Post some of the hands and I might give you some advice on your plays. :) It's not always the bad run you know, we and our decisions somehow affect the bad run.

      Regards,

So i played some yesterday and today and felt like i was playing very bad. I got some hands evaluated and saw a couple of spots where i could have saved me some money.

      Graph of today/yesterday

      NOT PRETTY at all!

I lost a stack on NL10 last night with my first hand AK > QQ which thankfully i had tilt breaker on and my stoploss is $10.

I shouldn't have even sat at an NL10 table anyway! :(

      Overall NL5 Graph :

At least since i started this blog my graph has started to look better in terms of having the best hand at showdown which was one of my focus points

      Bankroll :
      $113.70

      Just had my best day in terms of BI's :D :D :D :D :D :D

      Crushing these NL5 zoom players.

Unfortunately couldn't crush the $2.70 KO on stars :(

I have a whole load of interesting hands to go through too which i will do tomorrow after work.

      Graph :

      Bankroll is at :
      $147.66

Ive been having a good few days which is nice, playing well and running well.
I have over 50 marked hands to go through which i will begin to do in a little while.

I applied for the "Christmas coaching thread" so fingers crossed!

My roll is looking a healthy at the end of today standing at a whopping $200.06

I am going to have a shot at NL10 when i reach $250.

I still have to clear 1500 VPPs to get that bonus but if i move to NL10 this week it will be much more achievable. Also if i do and extra 100 i will reach gold star on pokerstars which would help with collecting VPPs at the start of 2014 :D

All in all a good day !

      Here's my graph since Dec 1st, it's SEXY! :

I am truly amazed at the differences such small steps make, Here's hoping BrokeSoBroke reads this blogs and sees some potential.
