      Hello everyone!

      My name is Seby (comes from Sebastian for those who wonder :P ) and this will be my blog.

      About myself:
      I just turned 23 years old on 1 January 2014, I'm from Busteni, Romania but I recently moved to Brasov where I work as a full time web developer.

      Poker history:
      I started playing poker a year and a half ago with $50 free money from PokerStrategy. I played cash, NL2 tables, and managed to win ~$120 money that I used for having fun. After some time I wanted to play again, I made a deposit and played NL2. Here comes the part that changed everything :) . With a ~$90 bankroll I played a random MTT just for fun and having no idea what strategy I should use and won 1st place for $1600. With this bankroll I started to play and study only MTTs and had some good results for a beginner. The sad thing is that I didn't knew how to manage my bankroll (cashouts, downswings and out of bankroll playing) and went broke. I took a break from poker and now I'm back and I want to take it more serious.

      I will start by playing NL10 on PacifcPoker room with ~28 buy-ins bankroll.
      The hardest part will be NOT playing MTTs until I will have a bigger bankroll. Until now everything I won at cash I used for MTTs hoping to hit a big score :s_evil: Obviously that didn't happend.

      Short term plan:
      :club: Move to NL20;
      :heart: Study, study, study;

      And I think that's all for now :D If you have any questions or suggestions please feel free to post :f_cool:

      Hey Seby,

      Welcome to the blogs. :)

      That was a nice MTT score. But there can be a dark lining to that silver cloud. If you aren't mentally prepared and following proper bankroll management, that money can disappear fast.

      Also running good at the start of your poker career can give you an inflated opinion of where your game is at.

      GL and will follow

      Thanks for your message. You're right! One of my biggest problems was (and still is but not that much) the mental part. I hope posting here everything will help me with this :)

      This morning I played a short session. These are the stats:

      I want to play ~1000 hands per day since my time is limited because of the job. Exception weekends when I want to play more.

      Hahahaha, that would be great :s_cool:

      Any articles/videos for improving my mental game? Sometimes, if I get some bad beats I tend to f**k the whole game. Thanks!

      Hey Seby,

      You could have a look through the Psychology part of our strategy session.

      I would also recommend Jared Tendlers' book "The Mental Game of Poker'. This book helped me enormously and actually saved me from quitting.

      There is also a +++Q&A with Jared Tendler!!+++ thread.

      There are also some videos on Mindset and one from BogdanPS.

      Cheers

      Second session today:

      I usually play short sessions (1hr-1hr and a half) with breaks. Should I post the stats at the end of the day or it's ok at the end of every session like I did until now? Hmm...

      Against a whale i think jamming is fine on the turn, but it depends on what range you put him on, if you cand do that with a whale. He`ll call any TP maybe some OESD i guess, don`t know about 2nd pair and gutshots. You could go for 2/3 pot and you could jam any river, this way you get called on the turn by all the GS OESD 2ndpair TP type hand and on the river he will find himself potcommited with 2nd pair, some OESD and might hit a pair so he will call sometimes, if he folds them, he might have folded them on the turn against a jam. Bleah, could do some math about that to figure it out, but it`s already to much content written in english for me, lol.

      Best of luck! :club:

      Nice one Seby,

      That last sentence is so important. Staying in control of your mind.

      You'll find some of the best poker players aren't the best poker players. They are guys that have the motivation, discipline and concentration to keep playing their A game and not spew.

      Happy Grinding
