Question 1: What is your motivation for playing poker? Excitement about the game. Furthermore I want to test if my analytic skills are fit for the game. Money would be a nice bonus and I think that can be the result of good play but should not be the main drive to start playing.

Question 2: What are your weaknesses when playing poker? Maybe fold too often in an attempt to play tight and aggressive. Wrong decisions in post flop play due to lack of knowledge. Too slow at calculating odds, outs and equity during play.

Question 3: What does it mean to play tight aggressive? Play when you have strong hands and fold when you don't. Limit curiosity losses on seeing flop with poor cards etc. When playing the strong hands play with strong bets to make it worth your while.

Question 1: What do you think you could play differently than suggested in the BSS Starting Hands Chart and why?

As I beginner I 95% follow the table. Extra things to take into account:

      - stag size
      - type of player (tight/loose)
      - exacter positions UTG 1, 2, 3 give more info

      E.g.
      - IP could bet on low pairs.
      - Blind stealing.
      - Play wider ranges against weaker (post-flop) players

Question 2: Do you have questions about your preflop play? Post your hand for evaluation.

      I'll strat writing them down.

Question 3: What is the equity of AKo against the top 5% range? 5% means 88+, AJs+, KQs, AKo.

Calculator gave 46.3%. How to calculate by hand is unclear to me. Do you use the card matrix for that?

Question 0: Download and install the Equilab.

      Done

Question 1: You are holding KQ. What is your preflop equity against an opponent who has 33? How does the equity change on this flop: J53?

      Equity= 48.8%

      On flop j53s = 18.03%
      On flop j53o = 3.72%

Question 2: What would you do in the following hand?

      No Limit hold'em $2 (9-handed)
      Players and stacks:
      UTG: $2.00
      UTG+1: $2.08
      MP1: $1.92
      MP2: $1.00
      MP3: $3.06
      CO: (Hero) $2.08
      BU: $2.00
      SB: $2.00
      BB: $1.24
Preflop: Hero is CO with AJ
5 folds, Hero raises to $0.08, BU calls $0.08, SB folds, BB calls $0.06.
      Flop: ($0.25) 263 (3 players)
BB checks, Hero checks, BU checks.
      Turn: ($0.25) 5 (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $0.22, BU raises to $0.44, BB folds, Hero...?

      Pre flop
      Range BU: 22-JJ
      Range BB: 22-JJ

      Flop range
      Range BU: 44,55,77-JJ
      Range BB: 44,55,77-JJ

      Turn range
      Range BU: 44,77-JJ
      Range BB: 44, 55

Fold, based on Starting hand chart and bidding expect BB plays 55-44. BB places value bet.

      Additionally caculated after decision.
Required equity: 0,44/(0,44+0,91)= 32.6%. I have no outs against his 44-55 range. My equity is (by heart): I have 2 outs against his 55, none against his 44 = 4% Equity using Equilab: 4-5% depending cards.

Question 3: Do you have questions about your postflop play? Post your hand for evaluation.

Downloaded poker tracker trial so will do.

Question 1: Post a hand for evaluation in which you have the initiative postflop.

      NL2 QQ Flop initiative

      Question 2:

Evaluated: NL10 FR QJs playing middle made hand

Question 3: You are on the flop with KQ. The board cards are J, 9, 8, and your opponent holds 77. What is your equity in this spot?

      I have 10 outs flop-river (3K, 3Q, 4T) giving me around 10*4=40% equity

      Equilab says 42-42%%

Question 1: Post a hand for evaluation where you have based your decisions on the stats of your opponents.

      http://www.pokerstrategy.com/forum/newthread.php?boardid=1674

Question 2: Evaluate one of the hands submitted by other members.

      http://www.pokerstrategy.com/forum/addreply.php?threadid=300076

NL 2 FR KT flop mistake

Question 3: Consider the following situation:

      $10 NL Hold'em (7-handed)

      Stacks & Stats:
      UTG ($10)
      MP ($8)
      MP2 ($9)
      CO ($10)
      Hero($10)
      SB ($10) (17/13/2.6/24/1212) [VPIP/PFR/AF/WTS/Hands]
      BB ($10) (27/9/2.0/29/333) [VPIP/PFR/AF/WTS/Hands]

Preflop: Hero is BU with 6Diamond , 7Diamond
4 folds, Hero raises to $0.40, SB calls $0.40, BB calls $0.40

      Flop: ($1.20) 3Diamond , 3Heart , TDiamond (3 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero checks

      Turn: ($1.20) JDiamond (3 players)
SB bets $1.00, BB calls $1.00, Hero...

What action would you take, and why?

Stats indicate good play. Good values AF/WTS. SB more aggressive than BB.

      Pre flop ranges:
      SB/BB: 22-JJ, AT+, Kts+, maybe A9s-A2s (BB also JTs)

      Post flop ranges:
      SB/BB: 22,44-99,JJ, AT+, KJs+, A9s-A2s (BB also JTs)

      Turn:
      SB: JJ, A9d-A2d
      BB: JTs, JJ

I would fold. Having a flush my hand looks good. Against identified ranges (given SB is rather tight) I have almost 0% equity. My flush has high chance of being dominated. Board is draw heavy on flush as well.

Question 4: Consider the following situation:

      $10 NL Hold'em (8-handed)

      Stacks & Stats
      UTG ($8)
      MP ($10)
      MP2 ($9)
      MP3 ($6)
      Hero ($10)
      BU ($10) (25/21/3.8/26/1250) [VPIP/PFR/AF/WTS/Hands]
      SB ($10)
      BB ($10)

Preflop: Hero is CO with JHeart , JSpade
4 folds, Hero raises to $0.40, BU 3-bets to $1.30, 2 folds, Hero calls $1.30

      Flop: ($2.75) 6Heart , 9Spade , TClub (2 players)
      Hero...

I would check to try and see the flop. Fold at significant raise by BU. AF 3.8 is rather aggressive. Als goed to showdown quite often so bluffing is not a good strategy here. Board is draw heavy on straight. BU raises after raise putting him on: TT+, AK. Only 2 outs flop-river so 8% equity. Against his range 40% equity.

Question 1: Post a hand for evaluation where you have either a) freeplay, b) slowplay, or c) multi-way pot situation. (Post your hand in the Hand evaluation board, and provide a link to your hand in your private thread.)

      NL2 4s9s multi-way

NL2 pocket 8s hit on flop

      NL2 7sks

Question 2: Evaluate one of the hands submitted by other members.

      NL2 FR QTo

Question 3: Consider the following situation:
      $25 NL Hold'em (10 handed)

      Stacks & Stats
      UTG ($25)
      UTG+1 ($25) rock
      UTG+2 ($25)
      MP1 ($25)
      MP2 ($25) LAG
      MP3 ($25) maniac
      CO ($25)
      Hero BU ($25)
      SB ($25)
      BB ($25) calling station

Preflop: Hero is BU with QHeart , JHeart
      5 folds, MP3 raises $1.00, CO calls $1.00, Hero calls $1.00, 1 fold, BB calls $1.00

      Flop: ($4.10) 3Heart , JClub , ADiamond (4 players)
BB checks, MP3 checks, CO checks, Hero checks

      Turn: ($4.10) QClub (4 players)
BB bets $2.05, 2 folds, Hero...?

What action would you take, and why?

BB only raises 1/2 pot size indicating a medium-strong hand. BB calls pre-flop with very wide range. BB does not hit on the flop. KT is in BB range but would expect higher bet on turn. QK (draw) or Q3 in BB range. Hero should raise with 2 pairs. If BB re-raises Hero should fold.

      Question 1:

Haven't played Max6 table yet. Posted many hands already on the forum.

      $10 NL Hold'em (6 handed)

      Stacks & Stats:
      UTG ($10)
      MP ($10)
      CO ($10)
      BU($10)
      SB ($10)
      BB (Hero) ($10)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 5heart , 4heart
2 folds, CO raises to $0.40, BU calls $0.40, SB calls $0.40, Hero calls $0.40

      Flop: ($1.60) 3spade , 2Heart , Qheart (4 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $1.20, CO Raises All-in, BU calls All-in, SB folds, Hero...

What action would you take, and why?

CO range flop: QQ, AhQh, A2s-A4s(h)
      Bu range flop: A2s-A4s(h), K2s-K4s(h), Q2s-Q4s(h)

      Required equity= 8.80/(10+10+10+0.40)=29%
      Hero has 17 out --> 38%

      Hero should go all-in.

Question 4: Consider the following situation:

      $10 NL Hold'em (6 handed)

      Stacks & Stats:
      UTG ($10)
      MP ($10)
      CO (Hero) ($10)
      BU($10)
      SB ($10)

      Flop: ($1.60) Aspade , 4club , 4diamond (4 players)
SB checks, BB bets $1.20, Hero...

What action would you take, and why?

      BB range flop: A2s-A9s, 44-99

BB could be betting on 3k or 2 pair. Hero equity is 85%

Hero should Bet/raise on flop. Raise here to 2.50-3.50.

Question 1: Post a hand for evaluation.

      - NL2 TT in position MSS
      - NL2 QQ in position
      - Nl2 Ak Mss

      Question 2:

      - Nl2 Kk

Question 3: Consider the following situation:

      $100 NL Hold'em (9 handed)

      Stacks & Stats:
      UTG ($100)
      UTG+1 ($100)
      MP1 ($100)
      MP2 ($100)
      Hero ($100)
      CO ($100)
      BU ($100)
      SB ($100)
      BB ($100) (18/15/3.7/23/732)[VPIP/PFR/AF/WTS/Hands]

Preflop: Hero is BU with 8heart , 9heart
4 folds, Hero raises to $4.00, 3 folds, BB calls $4.00

      Flop: ($8.50) 3heart , 6Heart , 8diamond (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $5.50 BB calls $5.50

      Turn: ($19.50) Jheart (2 players)
      BB checks, Hero...

What action would you take, and why?

BB is rather aggressive 18/15 and 3.7 AF. Not so aggressive in going to showdown. Hero hit a flush with 3 cards on board and two in hand. Don't slowplay this hand so make next card expensive for protection.

Hero should bet 3/4-potsize, so $15-20.

BONUS Question 4 (optional question): Consider the following situation:

      $200 NL Hold'em (6 handed)

      Stacks & Stats:
      MP2 (Hero) ($327.95)
      MP3 ($207.45)
      CO ($415.55) (TAG)
      BU ($373.60) (TAG)
      SB ($200.00)
      BB ($218.00)

      Preflop: Hero is MP2 with 7heart , 8heart
Hero raises to $7, 1 folds, CO raises to $23, BU calls $23, SB folds, BB folds, Hero calls $16

      Flop: ($72) 7club , 8spade , 8diamond (3 players)
Hero checks, CO checks, BU bets $52, Hero calls, CO calls

      Turn: ($228) Kdiamond (3 players)
Hero checks, CO checks, BU checks

      River: ($228) Qheart (3 players)
Hero bets $110, CO raises to $340.55 (All-in), BU folds, Hero?

What factors and concepts that you have learned so far would you use in evaluating this situation? What would your action be?

Equity, hand range, pre-flop play, post-flop play, stack sizes.

Pre-flop: CO (TAG) raises indicating strong hand: 77,TT+, AK, AQ, T9s-54s, BU (TAG) calls: 22-QQ, T9s-54s, A9s-A2s
      Flop: BU bets 3/4 pot: 77,99-QQ, A8s-A7s, T9s, 87s, 65s, CO calls: 77,TT+, T9s, 87s,54s
      Turn: all check/raise as slowplay...
River: Hero value bets, CO shoves: KK+, 77, 87s, suited flush (never straight flush)

      Equity required: 185/(327,95 + 327,95 + 75)= 25%

Equity (equilab) vs CO hand: 70%

      Hero should go all-in.

      Hi TortoiseAndHare

      Re: TT

I think that your raise sizes on flop/turn should be larger but the rive is just a call vs his small bet.

      Re: QQ

You should look to squeeze to at least 8 BB there given the money in the pot. As played call the flop (no reason to raise or fold)

      Re: AK

Given your stacks are smaller I'd just try to get it in on the flop so I would 3-bet vs villain.

      Keep up the good work,

      Bogdan
