Well as you may have read i've took over 20bi downswing not so long ago, after a while when i thought it was gone (made 1/3th od losses back) i got struck by another one and i couldn't afford anymore to play 10$ sngs (it would break rule of my safer BRM). So i went back to 5$ sngs, played them taking beat after beat wondering when is it going to end. So far it didn't end, i had some money finishes which kept my bankroll in one package, but slowly going down.
Moment i've lost will to play came when i've lost confidence into myself (for ppl who don't know me[most of ppl here] i'm person who is way way waaaaay over confident all the time, so if i've lost my confidence, this is something huge) when i again revisit my session in pokertracker and find out that most of my losses are caused by pure bullshit beats.

Before lemming train with "you got leaks in your game" "reread articles" "what is your screen name" jumps here, next paragraph is for you.

I've analyzed every single session i played, looking at hand i've lost, looking at lost opportunities, looking at bad laydowns and bad calls. Every move that was made because of certain read (if it was crucial) is written in hand comment, most of my reads was good here. Simply i did everything i could to find my leaks and remove them and i'm quite sure that i've removed all major ones. If i can't figure out hand on my own, i post it in hand evaluation, and usualy must wait for chenny to answer since no one else is willing to state theyr opinion (i guess theyr not as easy as "did i push my AKo right") :P .
If you think that this is selective memory, check what is your win ratio with straight-forward played aces (i don't slowplay them nor pref or postfloop), you will find out that they win about what, 80% ? Mine are stuck around 55%. And i don't talk about probe of 10 but around last 250sngs (since downswing began).

Where is the fun when you make very good decision based on your read, the fact that you sit here and watch those tables, making notes, observing and learning when after you make great call, he catches 2-outer ? Or when you finaly catch premium hand and it got beat half of the time. No fun involved, and it's not my work to struggle with pain.

So this is my salut and gl on your games, hope you don't get stuck so bad as i did and that you will have something to keep your game going.

Play Chess, thats the conclusion ive come to, only game i think that doesnt involve luck.

You could also try maybe seeing it not only as money on the line, which i know is hard, but try on concentrate on the good plays you make and be happy with them, whether or not you win in the end. Im still pretty new to poker and this is a lesson im trying to get my head around, the fact that you can do everything right and still lose. Just remember the people that constantly hit those 2 outers are probably exceptionally ugly with tiny penises in real life... no way they can be lucky in all aspects of life.

if you don't find poker fun anymore you should quit. You have to work really hard to get a marginal edge against your opponents. poker is only worth the work if u enjoy it. Also withdraw your poker BR.

Take a break. Ive taken two months off and come back. It helped.

Also remeber that the lower stakes wont pay off that much, its more of the road to the payoff.

3 days ago i had same fealings ... lost 100BI playing turbos... hit set on flop at HU play(isolated HU play) .... another donkey move all in with pair... and he catch runner runner (2%) straight or etc .... maybe 5 times in 2 hours.... another bad beats like runner runner flush ... KK QQ JJ AKs runing into AA .... any pocket pair runing into higher pocket pair ... AA cracked by 85of 97of JQof 33 44 QQ KK in buble play or late HU play- u can say that is poker ... but every times catching miracle on RIVER makes me fealing so sick :) i was pointing my finger on place where is river card to be dealt and saying loud A,Q,K,J,T(suck out cards for oponent) and for my fun they always coming ..another funky things was holdin pocket pair with domination of 70% .. KK vs A3 ... he always flop A ...

im playing pretty low stakes now ... started with 30BI and after 2weeks up to 130BI of that limit on my account (i have more acc with $) .... 15-30BI downsing is pretty standart to me ... i dont realy notice them coz i was suposted to play 5times higher buy ins....

but bang... 2 days ..sick days fall 130BI to 30BI ... it was very very depresing .... 2 weeks of hard playing more than 10? hours a day... (played more than 1,500 sng) was crashed in like 200? sng at rov...

only think that save me my BR at fultilt was nice bag of rakeback giving me another 15BI... so i decided to record my sesion and find a leaks ...and god i find them a lot!!! i was so thinking of GOOD play that if sombody MIN raises in UTG or etc i was always puting him on hands like AA KK QQ JJ AKs or etc ... i just giving him too much credit .. but seeing my video i realized "what the fuck im doing folding my JJ AQ TT preflop when sombody minraises ..sombody who doesnt even know what is position play or etc" so i decided to again download ICM Trainer and stick with him like 3 hours traning hardest seting...after that i started to again play and in one-two days from 45BI im up to 100BI.. yes i was lucky these days but i have to make moves to find where im doing mistakes coz one good player who plays my stakes for 5more longer times than me watched my graph and told me that im doing somthing wrong coz he never had that huge dowswing

so my advise is to record your sesion, stats, or etc ..watch it ...analyzed it and after that ( i know u alredy done this) ask sombody skilled for help ... i defintely think u can easily find here sombody or just watch coachings

I can relate to everthing you said fella. I sometimes think wtf is the point. I'm at the point atm where I'm questioning my ability. I am by no means a great great player but I like to feel that I'm above average (how can you not be being a member of this site?)

Every retard is hitting against me. I'm missing every flush draw, str8 draw and when I do hit some mug (who has called to the river) is holding the ace and wins the pot.

When I do have the nuts (not often) some fish won't call my value bet even though i'm giving him the odds to call.

I watch videos, remember the situations, and play how is best given the situation but to no avail.

I'm on a downswing of 20BI which is 1/4 of my roll atm.

The only thing keeping me going is that it has to change, it has to, mathematically it just can't continue.

      I hope i'm right !!!

this stuff happens to most people at some stage, try playing something else, I tend to switch to Omaha then if thats no good back to nl holdem if still crap limit and so on. I'm on a 18 game streak without a cash at titan in sitngos, but my Omaha is going great but if I stayed with sitngos I would be broke now but as it is i have cashed out twice in the last 8 days. try it change games.
if ps can turn me into a winning sitngo player then i will be impressed I started to believe it was titans fault but deep down I know I play sits bad. so what im trying to say is stick at it it will happen and for every success story u read about there are 10 players like us bashing our heads against the wall.

Get married is my advice. I had incredible luck since I got married. Had an enourmous downswing and took a few weeks break. Now I'm feeling fresh and enjoying my poker as well.

If it is not fun take a break and come back when you feel like it again.

      See ya soon ;p

I think there must be people who play good, follow BRM and every rule of good poker but fail due to mathematics, it's very low % to go broke, but since there are so many people playing poker it can happen.

There is a possibility that coin will flip heads 100 times in a row, but very small one, like 1/2^100, so if every coin in the world would be flipped trillions of times that would heppen for sure, not even trillions.

I can count how many coins and how many times do you need to flip to get probability of one coin flipping heads 1000 times in a row close to 100%, it's some work tho, I can count later if you want, I am statistician :-) With poker players it's much more complicated, but the same theory.

Chess, lol. There is much luck to do in chess as in any other game, you can't predict all the moves forward like computer, so ones are more lucky, others not, and your opponents mistakes, etc.

Marriage is more often than not, a huge downswing in itself.

      :)

Also i didn't quit poker in every aspect, in warsaw (where i've moved lately) there is nice casino with new low stakes table (blinds 1/2pln) so i'm definitly going to play there. Also many home games.
Maybe after 1-2 months my will to online poker will come back, then i will definitly get back to play :D

The best advice (I believe) in the thread is simply to take a break...After 5 years of playing online poker, and several 2/3 months breaks along the way, I have found this to be a great help. Its amazing how well things can go after these types breaks....Dont give up, try this strategy!!!

Happy pokering..or in your case, happy break!!

      hi
      sorry for the question..
but how do you record a session? like the videos at pokerstrategy? and how they focus on a certain table? "on the upper left you can see i have kings..."

      thanks ,
