I've decided to keep a second blog for cash games, since I've started playing a bit in low traffic for tourney time, and doing ok so far.

Here's a couple of notable hands from today's short session

Villain is aggressive after only a dozen or so hands, maybe drunk - who knows?
      $0.05/$0.1 No-Limit Hold'em (6 handed)

      Known players:
      CO (Hero):
      $13.95
      BU:
      $12.32
      SB:
      $7.80
      BB:
      $14.47
      MP2:
      $9.80
      MP3:
      $10.00

Preflop: Hero is CO with T, K.
      MP2 calls $0.10, MP3 folds, Hero raises to $0.30, 3 folds, MP2 calls $0.20.

      Flop: ($0.75) T, Q, 6 (2 players)
      MP2 checks, Hero bets $0.30, MP2 calls $0.30.

      Turn: ($1.35) 2 (2 players)
      MP2 checks, Hero bets $0.60, MP2 calls $0.60.

      River: ($2.55) 8 (2 players)
MP2 checks, Hero bets $1.30, MP2 raises to $8.40, Hero tanks and calls $7.10.

      Final Pot: $19.35.

      Results follow:

Hero shows a pair of tens(Th Kc).
      MP2 shows a pair of sixes(6c 4s).

Hero wins with a pair of tens(Th Kc).

I had few reads, but the bet made no sense, and there were too many hands I still beat.

This one against a fish, from villain's perspective:

Preflop: Villain is BTN with J 8

      couldn't sleep so read a bit and played a few hands. 400 hands of NL10 6max. 62bb/100.

My stats were 26/18/3.5 with 6.5% 3bet. since I was only playing one table I didn't use a HUD, but already had villain marked as a maniac. after 20-30 hands he was 3betting, stabbing at pots, raising, check raising etc.. but usually with some sense. A controlled maniac IMO / lagtard.

Poker Stars, $0.05/$0.10 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players

      UTG: $19.59 (195.9 bb)
      MP: $9.48 (94.8 bb)
      CO: $11.87 (118.7 bb)
      BTN: $12.12 (121.2 bb)
      Hero (SB): $11.84 (118.4 bb)
      BB: $16.21 (162.1 bb)

Preflop: Villain is UTG with Q Q
UTG raises to $0.30, 3 folds, Hero calls $0.25, BB folds

      Flop: ($0.70) K 5 T (2 players)
Hero bets $0.50, UTG raises to $1.51, Hero raises to $11.54 and is all-in, UTG calls $10.03

      Turn: ($23.78) 3 (2 players, 1 is all-in)
      River: ($23.78) Q (2 players, 1 is all-in)

      Results: $23.78 pot ($1.07 rake)
      Final Board: K 5 T 3 Q
UTG mucked Q Q and lost (-$11.84 net)
      Hero showed 7 A and won $22.71 ($10.87 net)

If I'm villain, I would minraise fold my donkbet. My shove is polarized, but it's 42% pot odds, and I'm 45% to win.. so about break even + FE makes it easily profitable shove IMO.

I don't have the patience ATM to break down the hand combos but I'd like to look at this in more detail. what do you think?

(rough calculation is he has to fold 52% of the time to be profitable - his opening range is wiide enough and he can only continue with 8.7 or so % of hands. kinda close?)

I'm going to stick at NL10 for a while, with 100BI BRM - It's a good place to get back in practice and ready to crush the next limit. (NL$16?)

      good fortune

I hadn't logged in since about when the WC started - and look I'm at gold status! I didn't even see the notification email so it's a nice surprise. I think I won the contest, and hope I didn't waste too much time not being here!

Perfect timing too, since I am back to playing cash for a spell - to break the monotony and strict time constraints of tourney playing every day

I also had a tilty -50BI on the SNG's which helped make the decision to go improve my game a bit more, and play where I think I have more edge than flipping micro donkaments - if I had much edge at all. 99.3% on OPR and the money was too small for the size of the swings.

So to cash. I reread a couple of books and watched a lot of videos (even while playing listening to them in the background) I went to sleep with videos on so it would permeate my brain in the night through osmosis.

I 2-tabled NL5 making sure to profile players and play to their weaknesses, get them to make mistakes. I also tightened up a little bit in some spots, but still playing a LAG style when appropriate. Of course at NL5 you'd think nobody folds, but they can.. not always but they still can. NL10 is a little but not that much better. Keeping my red line above zero is a balance of aggression and takes careful noticing of who's doing what at your tables.

Today I 9-tabled NL10 for the first time in a long time. I felt good, and lost a couple of stacks, but as you can see it went well.. I don't want to stop, even though I'm pretty tired.

Noticing the gold is great, I'll take the time to go through all the material as I won 16BI today, and think I should take shots at NL16 already. I think I could do well at NL100 from what I've seen, but I need a $3k roll, and that's going to take something while I'm cashing out half of my BR every month.

Sick day, hope there's more to come and to quote Mike Tyson. 'If you aren't humble, life will make you humble.' - here's to humbly relieving the cash from players that hate money. Lots of crazy and some interesting/surprising hands to go through. Here's some action:

Been a good 3 days of poker. I think I only tilted one or two buy ins in the 18 hours I've played.

I'm having a lot of success with ABC poker, and staying aggressive, but keeping losses small when possible. NL10 is fairly straightforward and there's no need to fight too much for the moneys.

I looked at NL16 but it isn't like NL10 at all, at least at these hours.. it's more reggy and definitely more aggro pf - if my winrate at NL10 is 1.6x what it would be at NL16, I should probably stick around and skip to NL25.

Two cashouts in the last week, so moving up a bit slower than I should. I think maybe one more cashout and start taking shots at NL25 if things continue going well.

As you'll note I'm way above EV, and while some is suckouts, I'm about even in that respect. Where I've been gaining ground is pushing stacks, making villain call off too much money with poor EV.

      the glorious garph:

biggest hand today.. villain had only 26% on the flop..

Poker Stars, $0.05/$0.10 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players

      SB: $10.05 (100.5 bb)
      BB: $8.19 (81.9 bb)
      UTG: $14.34 (143.4 bb)
      MP: $10.60 (106 bb)
      Hero (CO): $16.11 (161.1 bb)
      BTN: $10 (100 bb)

Preflop: Hero is CO with 7 7
UTG calls $0.10, MP raises to $0.30, Hero calls $0.30, 3 folds, UTG raises to $0.50, MP calls $0.20, Hero calls $0.20

      Flop: ($1.65) J K 7 (3 players)
UTG bets $0.50, MP calls $0.50, Hero raises to $3.10, UTG raises to $5.70, MP folds, Hero raises to $15.61 and is all-in, UTG calls $8.14 and is all-in

      Turn: ($29.83) A (2 players, 2 are all-in)
      River: ($29.83) A (2 players, 2 are all-in)

      Results:
      $29.83 pot ($1.34 rake)
      Final Board: J K 7 A A
UTG showed A 4 and lost (-$14.34 net)
MP mucked and lost (-$1 net)
      Hero showed 7 7 and won $28.49 ($14.15 net)

that's $7.30 over EV just there. He calls off ~12$ to win $2.50.. don't do this wiith deepstacks. if it ws $7.50 to win $2.50 even then I need a lot of TP type hands and other garbage, which I will not have ever here.

some hands to come. I want to play a bit more, but might get some sleep. I expect tomorrow will be very slow with the WC final.

      Good fortune

After a decent run, I hit a minor swing (about 10 stacks back and a few of them tilted))

I spent a lot of time on my game and browsing the Gold videos. Also been trying to eat better and exercise, and playing guitar helps defuse after or during a grind.

I started playing zoom due to being too lazy to table select, so why not random. I've been playing NL5, mainly because there are so many bad players there that my winrate is fairly huge.

Some hands from today.. I haven't finished yet, but I think it's been a 40bb/100 run for a while now. I'm about to move up next session back to NL10.

      Some nice hands from today.

Unreal that hand, I can't imagine why he would shove his stack, but I could only put him on TT and maybe an overpair.
