      Hello,

yeh, that is it - i decided to make a blog as well. Dont know how often i am going to update it and i might even cancel it after some time, but lets hope it wont come to that.

I dont know how long i have played poker but i think its enough for me tos ay i have seen ups and downs of poker. Now - like last 3 months my BR was hoovering around 2k and i got tired of it. I wasnt winning a thing. It seemes like all my work and time is for nothing. Had some issues in real life and i decided to take an interesting step. I cashed out like 750$ and left my BR at 1k. Moved down a limit and will try to see where this gets me.

Decided i could play 11$ SNGs and perhaps NL25. Because of issues i mentioned i lost laptop on which i used to play poker so now i am left with my old PC which has no tracking software on it.

So first steps in 11$ without stats. I focused on play a lot more than when i did have stats. Made some nice reads but still. Warning, readers - a little whining is comming. I cant believe how baaad is play on 11$ SNGs.. its terrible. There are some decent players (like yours truly, for example) but donks .. oh god. The whining part is - i cant win. Morale at 0%. Today i had one brilliant session where all my best hands won and i even made one suckout (KK vs AA) - i was sitting on all 4 tables with stack of 5k+ and massive chiplead. That boosted my moreale a bit again, but following SNGs killed it as fast.

I feel like standing in crossroads and cant decide which road to take. Make drastic change and start playing omaha or stud?!, play cash games? continue with donkfest SNGs and hope my luck will turn around? give up on poker? I guess its question only i can answer. Feel like giving up on poker might not be good idea, who knows - 2 months of breaking even doesnt mean much. I tilted a few times then - i know i can work on it. Thats also the reason of this blog - i feel it could make me more disciplined.

GL, Carry on playing your "A" game, and hopefully things will start going your way soon.

@Therk, you really shouldn't post hands in another guys blog. :/

This was hard. Luck had punched me in the face for couple days now and after this small break i was very keen on playing again. Clear mind, solid game... but no, bam, punch in the face again. Thought about this hand for some time - i think i played it correctly tho. I wasnt all happy about call but on this limit i dont think i can ever fold top set like that. Just cooler imo. Wasnt happy but i didnt tilt one bit, my game was solid as before at least i thought like that

Hated this flop, was unsure about what to do. Was happy to see call by QQ, but ofc one more suckout on me.

In the end i managed to deliver one suckout too where my A9 beat AQ and made it ITM in 2 out of 5 SNGs i played. Got to HU in both, but there i lost. One opponent was tricky guy that liked to limp AK, check top pair and trap me. He was passive, i played aggressively and grinded him down slowly but then lost all-in preflop AK vs JJ and soon after he busted me. In other HU got it in with K7 on 3s7s3x board against AsJs and he hit river J.

Even tho i got money in relatively good on both HU matches i am not happy about my HU game. Got kinda restless, made few borderline calls. Hope to play more disciplined in future.

Participated in BOD as well where i didnt cash. (55 vs A6 final hand)

Sharkscope is illegal on pokerstars now, but i will act like ninja and post my graph here. Dont think they would mind it as i only use it for personal stats and i am not playing atm too.

edit: hope i succeeded to post graph with 4th time. I think i should try using preview function from now on :D

You seem to be concentrating on your beats way too much no wonder your not enjoying it anymore.

Have been through the same phase maybe play some omaha like you say even for 0.01/0.02 blinds just to have a laugh.

I dont think you have played your hands badly but maybe consider taking a flop and trying to get them off their hand on the flop?

I guess you are right. I always try to see that luck is balanced - sometimes i win and sometimes not. Just that lately i got so much beats i kinda got distracted. Will try to forget about it and just play.

Today again caught myself with thought that maybe i should play cash games. Saw such bad play in such quantities that it amazed me. Thought that SNGs have those all in confrontations a lot and its more dependant on luck than it would be in cash games.

Will try to mention more positive now so - today got again 2 itm and both cases got it to HU. In one i lost even dont remember how but in other there was this redicilous guy. He didnt know how to fold preflop and after flop went into passive mode. So i raised lots of btns and just took away pot from him postflop. finishing him off was hard task tho. He4 once slipped out when i had J6 on J92 board and we went in there, he showed 62 and hit one of his 3 outs on turn. But later on i won important flip and managed to finish him. So - HU win for once in a long time, yay!

Also keeping it possitive - had 2 lucky suckouts that i will share.

I've been having the exact same bad luck as you have very recently, I played around 20 SNGS and lost 17 of them, 15 of my loses bad beats as your ones.
usually you are suppose to take a break and chill out, but I wanted to see how much profit I would make in about an hour, and basicly kept on playing untill the time passed. It was one of my worse sessions ever.
The funny thing is, I still managed to make 12 dollars profit.

I started playing at pokerroom with the bonus from this website.

Although, I used to play at Pokerstars a few months ago, I was playing heads up cash games, I would buy in with minimum 20 dollars, and play against guys with 50+, now half the time after a while, it would end up with me 50 and my opponents left with nothing. One day I decided to play as usual, and for some reason I had the worse bad beat day of my life, I had 300 dollars, and kept on losing every single hand on the turn when I had the best hand, it was ridicilous, I felt like the site wanted me to lose. Like I would have a str8, and another guy would have top pair, and he would get a flush on last 2 cards. (this happened 6 times out of my 20 bad beats)

So I lost around 300 dollars in under one hour, I seriously wish I stopped when I was ahead...

      Time for update:

Played some cash, lost some money. Played some HU SNG - won some little money. And played a few MTT where i won money. Yesterday finished 26th in daily 30 grand for $88.75. And managed to cash in 3$ rebuy as well.

      In the end BR: $861.25.

Plans for future is - play some MTTs, SNGs and also i might try out limit badugi. A fun game i once played on playmoney tables. Just noticed stars added money games there too. And i was winning player there on playmoney tables, i must be winning on cash tables too, right? :D Just joking. Will go and see how i do.

Well i didnt stick to my plans. Yesterday after BOD i was watching how cannell plays and since all my tourneys had ended i was bit bored. And since it was 1AM i didnt want to play SNG as it could go for looong time and what if i suddenly get very sleepy :) So i went on to cash tables where i could leave whenever i wanted.

Opened up some NL25 shorthanded. 2 Tables - no stats, getting late and watching tourney so it should be ok. And oh my got what a heater i had. I get AA, someone has KK, hit some 2 pairs etc. Dont get me wrong, wasnt sucking out on guys all the time either. My game was good, made only few mistakes - really got confidence back. In 1h i was breakeven on one table and sitting with 400BB on other.

So today morning i wake up and want to play a bit of poker again. Felt good and decided to take a look what NL25 brings me today. Opened 3 tables and managed to profit quite nicely again. Was up like 5-6 stacks when after 2h of play i made big mistake - silly call with 2nd pair. That was like alarm in my head - was time for break. Rest of my day was again in tourneys - played 2$ turbo donkament, daily 30 grand, 1$ rebuy satalite for daily 80 grand and double shootout for Sunday Million. Managed to get ticket for daily 80 grand (55$) by spending just 3$, and cash in sunday mil satalite for 25$ profit - busted 4th (3 get ticket) when held AA and other guy had A6 with flush draw. He rivered his draw and i was out.

Anyways seems like doomswitch is off for me and i have got me through this downswing.

      Update...

Played double shootout satalites to Sunday Million all day. At start got bit unlucky and couldnt get to final table. Was very happy about my play and strategy, just couldnt get past HU on first table. I donked once - guy reraised all my SB raises. Like every single one. And at first i folded because i believed him, then i didnt have a hand to call and in the end i just called him with trash because i had to make a stand - my stack allowed me to fold once more, but nerves didnt :)

Anyway, in couple next tourneys i made it to final table which is hardest thing to do in those tourneys. On final table it is relatively easier. Like first 3 final tables i made only small money which is awarded to 3rd-6th place. 35$ is certainly good, but compared to 215$ and trouble getting to final table its kinda disappointment. Anyway those small cashes payed back for my entry fees and i was on break even or small loss thoughout all day. That kept me going for more.

My endless tries got rewarded in the end - its 3AM now, feel sleepy and will have quite hard test tomorrow, but still - have huge smile on my face for such a wonderful end of my day. Got that 215$ ticket, which for sure will bring me back to those double shootouts some time.

      Time for update again.

Last few days been playing NL25 SH. Mainly because i noticed how low my strategy point and VPP count is this month. Playing cash wont save me from loosing VIP level or two at stars and maybe here as well. Have no stats now so i play less tables and VPP gain is quite small. In last few days i have played 2-3 tables and i must admit i think it affects my game a lot. Played 2 tables and i found out i could do much better than when i played 3 tables. Never thought it would make such a difference (as when i had stats i played up to 7 FR and 5 or 6 SH tables). Maybe that was just a bad day or perhaps my looser style i try now is responsible for this - anyway that made me make a new plan of action for myself. From now on i will try opening just 2 tables at start and if i see its going ok and i can focus well enough i will add some more.

Been playing a few FPP satalite tourneys just for fun too. 100FPP rebuy satalite where winner gets entry into 2k FPP tourney. Won 2 of those and together made like 3k FPP. Really dont know where i am gong to spend it but will see. FPP is always good thing to have. Maybe could spend them on 1Mil turbo takedown again.

Today played BOD, for team Soy. Did very nicely - came 2nd in BOD, 73rd place in tourney.

You finished the tournament in 73rd place.
A $40.64 award has been credited to your Real Money account.

Today i decided to make a change - moved up a limit. I read Timukasr`s blog and saw how he decided to attempt NL100 with 24 BI BRM. Then i did a little calculation and noticed that i have 25 BI for NL50. In last couple days i have had good results on cash games (NL25 SH) and felt very good. I was and still am very confident about my game - of course i make mistakes sometimes but i think i have played very disciplined, smart and aggressive poker lately. And Timukasrs courage to attempt NL100 inspired me.

So today i tried NL50 SH. Did quite careful table selection and had 2 tables where i was IP of a fishes. I wanted to play as aggressively as i had been playing NL25, but at first i really couldnt. On one table there was a guy between me and a fish who kept isolating fish, but i was almost always in no good position to 3bet him. Either my hand was just too weak or there were too many opponent left behind me .. or both. Anyway after some time i got the feel of the game, aggressive guy left and it was showtime :) Managed not to loose big pots, made a few good calls and hard folds. As a result i ended this day with some 100+$ profit.

I am actually very very interested in my stats now, but since i dont have stat software on this PC i cant get them anywhere. Would be fun to see how they changed since i started playing with no tracker and on 2 tables only.

Made like 100$ yesterday too. So in total it is like this:

      BR: $1446.15

Nothing much happened today - only played NL50 SH. Feel like moving to NL50 was good decision - quicker growth in BR and also if i aim for NL100 i need to get used to better players. Although i dont think there is much difference between NL25 and NL50 tbh.

So at the moment i have:

Yesterday didnt play much poker – only participated in World Cup of Poker qualifier freeroll for Latvia. There were 92 enterants to compete for 9 seats in final in this tourney so i thought my chances were good  Quite many poor players between them since its freeroll.

To tell the truth i am not entirely happy about my play. I got between top 9 and qualified to play in next round but i did luckbox a bit. Although the more i think about it the more it seems like borderline decisions that could be played either way. Let me share them with you:

      1) At the beginning i was tight, then in critical stage of tourney i was card dead and as a result i became short stack. Stack was still ok but i was left not much options for play styles. Had around 10-13BB then. Then had to go through blinds and after a blind increase i found myself with M=3.5-4, in UTG with KTo. At this time seats werent filled fully so it was 7 player table iirc. I pushed as i didnt want to go through blinds and given other stacks i thought i would loose fold equity if i didnt do something. Table was on the tight side too so i thought my push could work. One guy called me with 99 and i won the flip.

      2) Deep in tourney i was short stack again. Found myself with A5s in CO. Blinds were at 200/400 and i had about 4,4k. It was folded to me. I think i should have pushed this right in or folded but in the heat of the game i didnt – i raised it to 1,1k. It folded to BB who pushed for 7k. Now my tourney life was at stake. When i did numbers in tourney i thought i had 2:1 odds (in fact its more like 1,8:1). I looked at my options.. i could fold and be very short and then getting to top 9 would be very hard, i could call and be ahead in case he made resteal with like KQ, KJ (imo this is rarely, not more than 10% chance), or i could call and be behind. Pot odds said i need like 30% equity (in fact its like 35%) and i thought its very close. Since my hand was soooooted!!!! And i had chance for straight – i thought i had some suckout value + i didnt like option of being very short again. Thats why i called there and BB showed JJ. Flop came 346 with 2 spades (i had spades as well), turn brough 7 and going into river JJ had 1 out. I won the hand and was back in business.

      3) One guy had just lost big pot in previous hand and was down to 3k. He was in CO, i was in SB and had roughly 10k stack holding A9o. It was folded to him and he pushed. Cant remember the blinds exactly but they were either 200/400 or 300/600. BTN folded. Guy in BB had around 3,5k stack. So now i had pot odds of about 1,25. He lost the previous hand, was short and got opportunity to be firt in from CO. I thought he could easily be stealing. If he is not i need around 45% equity. He could hold weaker ace, he could hold KQ, KJ, maybe even QJ and KT. There could be pairs 22-88. And of course there could be monster too. If i call and win i am in great shape and could probably sit out for rest of tourney and get to finals. I would probably play like only AA, KK, QQ and avoid bigger stacks. If i lose i still have like 7k and can still play relatively ok. Put all together i decided to call. CO showed AK and i lost.

Those 3 hands have left me thinking. I think those were close calls and i could have done either way but still i kinda felt i misplayed them. This left a bit bad taste aftter winning the ticket to final tourney where 18 man will fight for 2 for seats in Latvia`s team.

What also left bad taste was cheating i encountered in this tourney. At least i am 80% sure it was cheating. See the hand below. UTG and BB know each other, are from same city and even said „Hi” to each other in chat before. This happened when 11 players left – 9 get seat. BB is the shortest stack in toruney. This seems like such obvious chip dumping – UTG seemed like solid player so i can not imagine him raising (more than he usually raises) from UTG and then fold to such 3bet given those odds. But well – misclicks happen, there could be logical explanation that doesnt mean chip dumping. I just want to express my concerns.

Today was back to cash tables again - and was running good. Played well, did good at table selection and was also not getting suckouts. Got some ncie hands too - managed to hit K high straight flush (against full house :) ).

Anyway feel bit tired so wont get into big details and will just make it short.
