equilab dead cards

      Hi, I'm curious what the dead card exactly mean? It means the card isn't in the deck anymore or it means that the card makes hand dead, like if you have an FD on a paired board vs a pair, u dont have 9 outs coz 1-2 of them makes the full so your hand will be still losing.

      I just ran one hand in equilab and dont get the equities

      Q :heart: 2 :heart: 37.5% (32% with K :heart: K :club:)
      K :diamond: K :spade: 62.5%
      K :heart: K :club: 68%

      board: 4 :club: 8 :heart: T :heart:

      so with 7 vs 8 outer FD we lose 5.5% equity, but if the KK has no blocker so K :club: K :diamond: but we add any :heart: to the dead section, then the equities are 34.5% vs 65.5%.

      Why isnt it the same ? We have the same 7outer, why it changed 2.5% with one blocker / dead card ?

      Is this a bug or I'm not getting something ?

      edit: oh wait, is hitting the backdoor flush for KK 2.5% ? i missed this

      You might be seeing card removal effects.

      In the example you give, the K is one of the heart outs for Q:h2, so some of the equity shifts to the K:hK hand.

      Dead cards.
      The only time I ever used the dead card box is when I called an shortie's all-in in a tournament w/ suited broadways.

      Another player in later position 3Bet and I called.
      The original shover had A:s9 I put those cards in the "dead" box so I could see what the equities were in the side pot. The player that re-raised had A:d5

      The board was 8:s4:s9
      If I didn't put the A and 9 in the dead box, it distorted the results:

      This is what it looked like with the cards in the position boxes:

      Board: 8:spade: 4:spade: 9:diamond:
             Equity     Win     Tie
      CO     39.87%  39.87%   0.00% { As9h }
      BU     59.03%  59.03%   0.00% { QsTs }
      BB      1.11%   1.11%   0.00% { Ad5c }

      If I just ignore the CO's hand:

      Board: 8:spade: 4:spade: 9:diamond:
             Equity     Win     Tie
      BU     64.24%  64.24%   0.00% { QsTs }
      BB     35.76%  35.76%   0.00% { Ad5c }

      and if I put the original all-in hand in Dead

      Board: 8:spade: 4:spade: 9:diamond:
      Dead Cards: A:spade: 9:heart:
             Equity     Win     Tie
      BU     63.68%  63.68%   0.00% { QsTs }
      BB     36.32%  36.32%   0.00% { Ad5c }

      Not a big difference, but a difference

      Note, I just made this hand up -- I don't remember them all that exactly! :coolface:
      The general tone of the hand is pretty close though.
