My name is Jorge and I play poker for about 5 years. A week ago I finished my studies of bussiness and economy and I decide to try a year living from poker and investments :f_drink:

I will share my challenge to win $50k next year from poker :f_cool: and the incursion in the world of investment with a serious approach

The purpose of this blog is to keep improving my english and have a track of my progress (I hope there will be any)

if you are reading this I will do my best to don't disapoint you :f_thumbsup:

      Bankroll Management:

      nl200-100 >$5k
      nl100-50 >$3k
      nl50 <$2k

The money won at the tables will be used exclusively to climb stakes, any kind of rkb will be used for living expenses. Any amount over $5k at my balance will be deposit in a liquid fix rent account which allow me to continue playing on a higher stakes if I need bankroll

ok so I will re-open my blog because of:

Get Rich or Die Tryin' - The Bankroll Challenge - Opt-in now!

40 days of the year and almost $0 profit :f_biggrin:

I played around 50k hands from nl50-200 on stars only, poor volume BUT I was attending to some seminars and lessons on trading and it was really interesting, specially when you understand how to use bloomberg! so I will focus more on poker right now

I decided to talk more about others things in order to be more attached to this blog, also I plan to write weekly posts (every Monday) and post graphs every 50k hands. Today I made the worst mistake of the year playing nl200 so I will try nl200 again only if I play 10k hands (in a row) at a good level at nl50-100 (I will find the way to record this)

      New week, new motivation!

Last week I did ok, I put a lot of effort on try to play good tables, make the best decisions and with the right mindset so I feel good about that, ufortunately I did not that good with the volume, only 10.5k hands with an average of 540 hands/hour which is awfull, my goal is to be around 750 so I need more hard work to achieve that.

finally I recorded the way I played in those 3 aspects (TS, EV+ decisions and mindset) with a grade for everyone of those aspects after each session, plus the average, number of minutes played and hands. This week I will start with a mental coach so we will work on every point and the recorded info will be usefull and also this blog

      10/2/2015 10 7.5 6.5 5.5 31 583 6.5 301
      14 7.5 8 8 32 716 7.8 382
      16 7.5 7.5 8 38 649 7.7 411
      17 8.5 8 8.5 22 464 8.3 170

      11/2/2015 10 8 6.5 8 75 665 7.5 831
      11 8 7.5 8 31 585 7.8 302
      14 7.5 6.5 8.5 108 638 7.5 1148
      17 8 7.5 8 22 461 7.8 169
      22 7.5 5 6 54 630 6.2 567

      12/2/2015 12 7 5 6 17 261 6.0 74

      13/02/2015 12 7.5 7 8 115 506 7.5 969
      22 7.5 6.5 7.5 43 879 7.2 630

      14/2/15 7.5 7.5 7.5 99 456 7.5 753
      8 8 7.5 180 424 7.8 1273
      8 8.5 8 68 641 8.2 727

I think the level at stars.com midstakes is hard to beat, but completely possible, since Jun 2014 to Dec 2015 I played on .it where the level imo was lower but with the rake it´s almost the same.
For this week I want to do things even better, I want to put more volume, better rate on hands/h and play better. For all of this I need to be more professional every day, focusing more on nutrition, sleep, sport, etc. and my plan is to have that goal for this week. I will start with drink less alcohol when I go out, I love parties and now at the place I am there are awesome parties and I think it is even better to built confidence without alcohol and it will allow me to be at my best next day.

@teddypoker: Ty! the numbers in the spoiler, column by column are: hour of the day/grade for table selection/grade for technicall game/grade for mindset/minutes played/hands per hour/average/hands played. This is the way I´m recording my progress and it envolve important aspects to review with my mental coach

@BaarryCarter: The coach is a friend of mine who is finishing their studies of psicology and he played online poker so he is very familiar with the terminology of the game. It is nice to have you here because we are working mainly with The Mental Game of Poker, awesome book Barry!

This was a crazy week, on Monday I won a seat for the LAPT Chile, it is a NL Holdem $2500 re-entry event, a huge tournament for my and my wallet so it will be a massive experience, also I will rent an apartment at the same city of the casino for all the month, everything is almost done so March will be an important month.

Then on Wednesday I won some hands against one of the greatest loosers of online poker, Roman Abramovich? who knows but I hope the rumors are true so I could say to my childrens that I won money betting against one of the richest person of the world :s_cool:

This week again, I played a hand poorly in nl200, Regs often push you out of your comfort zone, so the goal for this week is to play 10k hands with an average >7.5 (according to my progress excel) on nl50-100 before returning to nl200 and also be more productive with my time, GL!

      Ok new week new objectives!
Last week was pretty bad in terms of poker, running bad and playing bad. I was really frustrated but talking about problems with friends/coach I reached to the conclusion of only focus on performance. $/limits/be respected is all bullshit, I only need to focus all my effort on performance and for that I need to keep the $ part out of the equation, so about the monetary goal for this blog/myself I will keep the name of the blog only to catch readers :)

I want to play 100k hands for this month but I will not monitor my progress on that, I only want to achieve an optimal amount of hands, but I will be proud if I reach that mark.

On Friday I will play the LAPT tournament, the field (through online satellites) seems to be tough but I hope some retirees take part of the action. I will update the party here, GL!

      Many time since last update:

Finally I did ok in the LAPT Chile main event, I ended 33 out of 400 without using a re-entry, I think I didn't make a clear mistake through the tournament and I enjoyed it pretty much, live play is a totally different world and having the oportunity of being part of it again is great, meet the pokerstars pros (I eliminated two of them) and try to understand the live tourney metagame

in online mtt I'm running really hot, I ended 2nd in the Omania $33 and 10 in the Sunday Million last Sunday, touching the glory...next time

In cash games I think Im BE at the tables and I have 33k vpp playing mainly nl100. Now I have a new challenge: play 100k hands at nl100-200 without looking the cashier and paying attention to the performance only

Other than that I'm doing research studies related with investments for my university and I'm very proud/motivated with that part time job

      GL at the tables!

      Hi there!
I'm working with my mental coach doing the 7th session of this year so far, it's incredible how just talking with other about a lonely game like poker, increase your motivation and hope to do it better.
I have a personal challenge for the next 7 days, play 25k hands between nl 100-200 focusing only on good averages. I'm very engaged with this challenge so I will update my progress next week
